Jadeja isn't just a darter, like I said in the other he's *in smart. In the last series he dragged Cook off & further outside then ripped in a few right on to the stumps. I'd argue he's smarter than Ashwin with the ball though slightly less skillful

Jadeja on these wickets would have been useful. He always takes wickets when it matters and this is a kind of pitch where Jadeja would have overshadowed Ashwin. 

 

We are missing Jadeja. Without him, we do not hold the same authority in home conditions as we did in last 7-8 years.

Nadeem looked so undercooked. For an experienced bloke his action was all over the place at times. And he has over 400 wickets in First Class.

 

We havent produced a finger spinning prospect in a while..If not for Jadeja turning beast mode,the options we have post Ashwin's emergence have been underwhelming.

I feel he has gone down performance wise . Proof -Not even getting a chance in IPL team.   When you lose the bite , you become half the bowler you are. may be past his peak.  May need to look at Axar, Saurabh  for future.

It's extremely disrespectful to call Jadeja just a 'darter'. The guy has 200+ wks at an avg of 24 and has played all over the world by now. Same with Ashwin who averages 25. How many 'legendary' spinners of the past have that kind of stats? 

 

Our insane home dominance isn't for granted. It is only made possible by the once in a lifetime duo of spin-bowling all rounders. 

 

All the Kuldeeps, Sundars,Nadeems, etc have massive shoes to fill.

Just day 1 of a 4 test series, super flat conditions against one of the all time greats against spin at his peak. Seriously though Smith, Root and Pujara are 3 modern day greats as capable against spin as the likes of Viru, Sanga, Lara, Younis etc. Opponents won't roll over, and that makes the contest so much more exiting. Credit to England, they have come well prepared with that series in SL, long enough to get used to spinning conditions but not too draining. Far better than 13 vs 13 warmups against Board President's team or India A. 

 

We will come back stronger and on this patta, good luck bowling to Rohit, Gill, Che, VK, Pant.....

Well Nadeem may be new, but he is almost as old as Jadeja.  He's not going to fill those shoes.  Kuldeep?  Maybe.  We should be looking to some of the younger players - Anukul Roy comes to mind.  Being with a truly professional unit like the Mumbai Indians will help him hone his all-round skills.

Didn't realize Nadeem was 31 year old..  Lol wtf is wrong with Indian selectors?  TM is as usual dumb.  If you wanna give a chance to someone think for long term ffs. 

Either Kuldeep or Rahul Chahar should be given chances in coming games.  Hopefully Axar gets fit as well. 

 

Cupboard isn't bare I think.  Sai Kishore Bishnoi,  Anukul Roy are decent options Tbf.  Bishnoi can be India's best ever leggie since Kumble.

Though OP has a point, replacing Ash-Jaddu won't be easy. We take these 2 legends for granted, we take our insane home dominance for granted, inferiority complex ridden neech Indians will parrot Baki, Sky lines to underplay our feats, our guys, our home record etc...*ing clowns. 

 

We may not see another duo like this playing for India for another 20 years, enjoy while it lasts. Both complement each other so beautifully, one of the greatest joys in cricket is watching them in tandem. While individually both are great, what they do as a combo is even better, like Goku-Vegeta fusion. 

 

And what's with this silly underrating of Jaddu, granted he is more in the McGrath or Kumble mode and I fully understand that such kind of bowling may not be the most exciting spectacle for majority viewers, but doing what they do is so tough and underappreciated. Ashwin is a Viper, but Jaddu the Boa Constrictor has his own method to strangulate batsmen, damn effective. Not even going to debate about his status in Indian cricket since it is so disrespectful, but even for his worst critics he will be part of AT Indian squad by the time he is done and probably the only Indian cricketer worthy enough to replace Kapil in certain conditions.

Only morons like Manju disrespect Jadeja. He is one of best spinners in India better than Bishen Bedi as he has that ability to extract life from a flat pitch. I don't think Axar or nadeem are even 10% Jadeja. That said Nadeem has to do better, this has to be one of the worst performance by spinner in India.
