So many careers didn't take off due to these two guys.  If you had given enough chances to Manish Pandey in Tests odds are he would have been looking at better stats than Rahane.

No viable alternative has been created in test matches yet.

 

They rarely pick Fast bowlers as they are rested or injured a big too often.

 

Rohit and Ashwin are even older than Kohli and may not be viable options when he goes.

 

That basically leaves Rishabh Pant.

Pujara has clearly lost the ability to rotate strike and has been singlehandedly killing the momentum of the team. Just taking his position granted in the team on account of some past laurels.

I think Pujara and Rahane are done and dusted, they should have been dropped earlier but i don't know why both of them are still playing

problem is who will takeover the GOAT captain rahane? as long as goat captain keeps winning he wont be dropped. he is a terrible batsman. Lets just say he gets dropped and kohli isnt available, who becomes captain for test 2? Assuming no rohit either.
