Expected, he is 36 and tough to be motivated playing for a weak team also with a board run by corrupt, inept clowns. 

 

Ok career, didn't live up to his initial promise and a massive HTB. Inferior version of our Rahane (both suck against spin, much better against quicks, unable to stamp their authority). But will leave the team weaker and more vulnerable at home, had the ability to score clutch runs and compared to their quota picks he was like the second coming of Viv.

Good luck on Faf's post retirement career. Hope he plays for for a few more seasons Was a multi dimensional player, a lesser talented ABD one might say. He has played some crucial knocks for SA and for CSK

Going by QDK mental health problems hes takena break because of, he wont be playing tests for long too.

Maaan than johannesberg innings in 2014. We were literally sweating p****ng doing everything when the chase was on. When Faf got out it was 442/7. 16 ! Runs away from victory..he scored around 130. What a player..

Run of the mill player, definitely ordinary compared to the great SA batsmen of the past.

Really struggled in India in the 2015 and 2019 tours, against Ash-Jaddu-Umesh looked like a genuine number 11 tbh, Rahane is far better than this guy. Faf showed initial promise till circa 2014-15 when many though he would carry the great RSA batting legacy forward, but found wanting in the toughest format once the real stalwarts retired/declined.

I feel the same. It was not just the retirements - politics, mismanagement of their cricket board, exodus of several good players to Kolpak, AB's extended absence etc also must have impacted him negatively.
