IPL auctions are lottery by design anyway and by no means true indicator of a player's value.

If they are lotteries, okay for the player it might well be, then what does it really say about the "professional" franchise operators or whoever the * leads them in the auction

Everything thing happens quickly in auctions, there's literally no time to think. Franchises routinely get into bidding wars for certain players, who they believe can enhance their team. That drives the prices up for 'undeserving' players sometimes.

Most of Indian fans are insecure and get triggered off easily. The guy was in Pakistan and amidst PSL, if Pakistani journalists ask him questions on IPL vs PSL, what is he suppose to say?

 

At the end of the day, he would also want to earn as many as possible in these final years of his cricketing career with the bowl, let him do that by earning some moolahs in PSL and fooling around their fans a bit.

He is allowed to express his opinion. Why is this even an issue, if he feels PSL is better for him so be it.

IPL did hasten Steyn's rapid decline in Test cricket, else he looked set for 550-600 test wickets. Lost his form and fitness gradually after the 2015 WC. Without IPL , could easily have prolonged his career for of couple of years.

 

Maybe he still has that regret. But then it was his own choice, no once forced him to put his name up for the auctions.
