Southampton any day for me. Toss is irrelevant in Southampton.. infact chasing is not difficult .. even the test which India lost by 60 runs we were in the game till Rahane got out.. Windies chased 206 without problems against England m.. day 3 4 5 it becomes much flat. If india wins toss and scores 350 game over.. with the bowling attack india has nz wouldnt survive.

only in the D/N test with the pink ball and on a raging turner. show me all the other wickets where he dismantled us. that's not the type of pitch I was advocating though. it should be closer to the ones given to SA in their more recent tour, where the gulf between spinners becomes apparent. that's the problem with raging turners - people like O'keefe also do well, but on more balanced tracks, they are nullified.

So it seems the Kiwis have never played a test match at Southampton and the Indians have played 2 of the 6 played there so far.

 

I still would prefer the Lords to any other venue..There is something about a big match occasion which pumps up the Indians and what is a better place to play Test Match cricket than the Lords.

 

Ofcourse the venue may just favor the Kiwis..though even the kiwis do not have many victories there like the Indians

 

Playing after the IPL has its own peril, lets hope Ravi and Kohli can get the players in the right frame of Minds before the event

Rose bowl..  So two spinners in Ash & Jaddu..  3 pacers Ishant Bumrah Siraj.  Shardul is the dark horse as we do need a strong lower order. 

Overall I'd say Easier venue for us than Lords.  Kiwis don't have anything like Mo Ali to trouble us there.

India has perfect bowling combo, batsmen need to stand-up.

 

India start favourites.

It's England we're talking about. More than the wicket, it depends on overhead conditions. Just imagine what Boult, Southee and Jamieson could do if there's even a little cloud cover....

I don’t think any of the two teams is too concerned about the conditions/venues in Eng. They will both look forward to playing good cricket no matter what

It should be neutral venue, why do people here as so obsessed about playing it in India and that too in Ahmedabad specifically. It will be great event, have always wanted test matches at neutral venue since Pakistan vs Australia in England 2010.

Shardul is an intriguing option! I hope he has been working on his consistency during his time off. If he bowls consistently between middle to 4th stump lines with some variations of his outswing, that'd be lethal. 

But he'd end up getting benched. More so as Shami will be back and it's a bigger, but an extremely good headache to have for the team management.

so... the BCCI just needs to find a way to enclose the stadium with a room and create an artificial atmosphere
