Majestic Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 Good news. We need him to bowl a few overs just as a cover for other five bowlers. Rest his batting will do it for us.

Majestic Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 2 minutes ago, Serpico said: He'll be the fifth bowler, won't he? Nope. His batting is good enough to bat in top 6 in ODIs and ofcourse T20s. He should focus on his batting ability only and just be available to bowl 2-3 overs in T20s and 4-5 overs in ODIs. Fifth bowler job will be taken care by Jadeja/Sundar/ Axar/ Tewatia whoever plays.
mishra Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 Good. Need him to bowl a bit faster and a bit accurate.
Lone Wolf Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 I won't bowl him.. At least not in T20s. He is more like emergency 6th bowler atm. However in order to bowl full tilt like earlier he needs to do strength & conditioning for long time to make sure his back stays good.
Vk1 Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 is his fitness issues partly coz he has focused more on power but not for rigours of test bowling?
cowboysfan Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 imo he doesnt need to bowl in T20s.he can concentrate on Test bowling and save his body because he is not getting picked unless he bowls well in Tests.
The Realist Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 He's nearly 28. Needs to start playing cricket more regularly otherwise will be bypassed by other younger players.
ungboysj Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 Very disappointing career thus far Hasn't had his watershed moment yet neither a consistent matchwineer

ShoonyaSifar Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 Why wasn't he allowed to play in VHT and gradually ease his way back into bowling (like Bhuvi)? Bowling in the nets vs bowling in a competitive match. Sadly our TM prefers the former

Sandeep99 Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 His time is running out as a test player. Youngsters are emerging. He is good enough to continue as a batsman in limited overs. He will end up as a serious disappointment if he doesn’t play tests though. Vijy and Jay 1 1
Vijy Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 so, the fragile princess has started bowling. I wonder how long it will be before he breaks down again and becomes a pure batsman. I am not optimistic that his body is adapted to bowling. bowlers need to have not just "ability" but also their bodies need the experience of bowling for long spells and hard yards in long-format matches. and pandu has little of that - let's see what the future holds. Kapil said multiple times that for a fast bowler his lower body strength is the key.. he barely had time to work on conditioning for long format.. in the era of talent scouts, its going to be difficult Vijy 1
