We are perpetual late starters in every series - even home series - that’s why we choke in Finals and that’s why we will be humiliated in the WTC finals against NZ

extreme reaction. the opposite has also been true. also, wtc final is a unique concept of a one - off final. nobody knows what will happen. Do you know nz has won only 1 test in eng in last 20 years and 5 times ever?

they are very poor travellers.

late start has nothing to do with it.  Refusal to adapt to the evolving white ball game is the problem.  ODI cricket is a longer T20, and T20 is a slug-fest where you have to bat fearlessly, selflessly.  India don't do that, and that's why in spite of having so much talent at their disposal, their success rate is massively below what it could and should be.  This is not a new problem.  It has been a known issue under Kuptaan Wrogn for almost half a decade.  Dhoni was a big believer in locking in a par, or close to par score, before attempting to hit out for a par+ "winning" score - and that worked under the 2011 rules.  The rules changed, Dhoni's mindset did not, and we were outgunned in 2015 WC.  England the perennial ODI shyte-show, were forced to evolve their ODI batting, and they did it wonderfully after 2015 - it took them a couple of years, but now their batting unit is used to batting with a certain method, and they go for it.  Indian team use the excuse for slow up front batting of allowing "matchwinners" to get themselves "set" and then "go big".  If not for the batting freak that is Rohit Sharma, India's white ball record would be a lot worse, as it deserves to be.

Late starting is the opposite of choking at the end of the tournament

Late start means - the team is mentally tuned in for any “new” stage only after a kick up the backside.

Such lack of mental preparedness is seen everywhere - whether it’s moving on from one format of the game to another or playing a new team or playing at a new level of the tournament.

I said that before and I’ll said it again.

Kohli needs a severe kick up his back side.

He has no entitlement over the captaincy and the selectors need to tell him in no uncertain terms that he can’t be captain since he needs to focus on his batting which is way too inconsistent.

if this decision is made at a higher level in BCCI above the pay grade of the selectors, then too it is a problem.

Because Ganguly himself was a passenger in the test team for about 2 years during his captaincy  - a walking wicket.

So he will have no moral right to preach and make Kohli understand why he needs to be relieved of captaincy duties.

We had the right idea in 2007. Seniors stayed home and a young side with no prior baggage played in that World Cup. Maybe we should do something similar here. Right now, it looks like England is way ahead in this format. We don’t know what we are doing. A newer younger side may bring some fresh ideas..

How is India being slow starter has anything to do with India getting knocked out in knockout matches.India won most number matches in last two world cup in group stages .India is starting fine, it is the knock matches they are coming short. Kohli not able to contribute anything in knockout matches in last two worldcups is one of big reasons too.England won worldcup by a miracle and not because they blew away all other teams.
