It is a good lens to view that country. The USA today is a 'cleft country'. With an imaginary canyon right through the middle seperating the red from the blue. SM in India is still to reach a level where people box themselves into only one identity: that of ideology based on politics. We have a society where identities overlap and we are in multiple boxes at the same time. From my understanding SM has had a less talked about role among the urban Indian electorate. They've been galvanized into voting. Into picking sides. Into thinking about ideals ( and not short term material gains, like most of the electorate has done hitherto) and identity. Its the return of the 'idealist' on both sides that drives the narrative these days. A decade ago, as a person in her early 20s absolutely none of my peers would be discussing government/politics/administration or lack there of with me. Or amongst themselves either. Most wouldn't vote either. Speak to a 20-25 year old today, and you'd be amazed at the kind of conviction they have and these people do vote now. And influence others. Everyone is a victim. Everyone has an ideal to export. Everyone is aligned ideologically. Good or bad, it's too soon to say. Edited May 29, 2021 by Mariyam

RIghtwing group boogaloo posed as blacks and attacked the police station. There are tons of far right wing hate groups. Just that they were given a voice by Trump. There are criminals that use opportunities to vandalize cities. Protest,s Flood, Sports victories. You cannot use that to make a case against blacks who were peacefully protesting. You have no idea how legal minds in India work. Especially those working in govt. Once the intermediary tag is out, everything on platform is up for grabs. Govt might not even need a ban from there on. I can give you one straight forward case for ban. Pornographic content is banned in India. Twitter still has porn stars sharing porno material. In a day, it will be gone. It’s dream of some people that left liberal US platform can sabotage our internal affairs. It can’t and won’t be allowed to.
