It's kinda sad but both Mayank and Shaw have fukked up royally in Australia. Not only did they not get runs, but also had their techniques brutally exposed. Don't think they'll be playin test cricket for India soon.

Mayank and KL Rahul are the back up openers and will come into contention only if the openers back to back failures in 2-3 tests on the tour or if Rohit/Gill are unavailable.

I think Agarwal will get to play vs England at some point.  Gill should ideally start WTC final.  He needs to be backed for couple more games here.  If he clicks then all is well.  Even a 30 40 will work

I am wondering why are they not playing a Intra squad game actually?

If opening duo doesn't click after say 3 tests, Washi Sundar is my wild card pick to replace one of them. L-R combo bhi mil jayega in top order. Kid seems to have compact defence, patience, cool head....might just surprise/frustrate their quicks.

I rate mayank highly.

Gill is super talented  ,gifted. If he is in his best form I could pick Gill. But if gill is not in his best touch..mayank can stick around like pujara. 

I think kl Rahul is not preferred for tests
