Yes the top order batting let us down, again; like they have before. Yes, Bumrah was nowhere near his best and had a forgettable game on the biggest stage. BUT, this is the team that got here. These are the guys that earned the right to be in the WTC final. They had to go do it in conditions that do not suit 'our' brand of cricket. Against a team that plays almost all their winning cricket in identical conditions. And lost the toss to boot. Test cricket's hardest ask is to beat a team that has the combination of winning the toss, in conditions that it prefers. And India fell short of it. In a game that I still believe was eminently winnable at the start. Yes, some of the players executed at disappointing levels. They could and should have done better. But I do not question their heart, or their effort. Or their talent. Yes, I am bitterly disappointed. But I will still root for Team India, through wins, losses, and draws. And I refuse to allow the voices of frustration, negativity and vitriol monopolize the conversation. agree, NZ was better adjusted to these conditions and these condition will make them par or above any team. These are extremely ideal condition for their whole team

Popular Post express bowling Posted June 23, 2021 Popular Post Posted June 23, 2021 (edited) I am not ok with this loss. We just had 3.5 days of play effectively. Should have drawn the match atleast. With the sun out and batting easier today, why did we collapse for 170 in such a crucial game ? CT 2017 WC 2019 WTC 2021 We have lost 3 big ICC events under this captain despite having very strong teams. Something is not right. If we keep ignoring this then we will be stampted as chokers. Need to find a solution. Edited June 23, 2021 by express bowling bowl_out, Forward Defence, Lone Wolf and 8 others 5 6

vivek04 Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 It's ok in other terms is a loser mentality. We have all the resources and money but poor planning, management and gutless captaincy lost the important game yet again. Kohli must be removed as captain and his old hogs should shown the door.

LAST 4 wickets while batting and bowling. We have lost at least 5 tests in last 5 years due to it. We always say we cant blame lower order but when other team does it consistently against us its a problem we need to sort out Edited June 23, 2021 by neel roy

Since the WC win in 11, we have lost every major tournament except 2013 CT being the outlier. I wouldn't even be surprised if India failed to win the WC 19 at home soil.
Mariyam Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 (edited) You guys are over thinking. To the powers that be in the BCCI this loss doesn't mean much. Its not a huge market anymore. The BCCI is more concerned about finishing the IPL. As they should be. This 'test final' is poorly conceived concept. Tests aren't supposed to have finals like this 6 day rain infested abomination. But I would expect heads to roll if we don't do well in the T20 WC. Edited June 23, 2021 by Mariyam

Turning_track Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 It has raised a lot more questions than ever before. Full credit to NZ, agree with the fact that they were well prepared, better suited, winning the toss helped them but losing a match within less than 3 days of play especially because of insipid display of batting is unpardonable. Not the first time though, we were used to witness the defeats in our traditional colored outfits not anymore now.

All ICC tournaments have full time teams and associate teams competing in same playing conditions with the final being played in the similar conditions as well. WTC finals has NZ which is already well prepared after winning against England in England and India who didn't even play a practice game. Edited June 23, 2021 by MechEng Mariyam 1

It’s ok to be humbled by Newzealand, it’s ok to be bowled out for 36, it’s ok to lose the WTC. Did you ever see me say any of these things? This sort of dishonest railroading and gross mis-interpretation of my point, foolish strawmen, is why I often get frustrated and lose my temper with you. I am all for differing opinions, but don't take the low road.

Can't disagree with that. The 2-yr build-up is too long, and having it come down to one match - in pathetic England conditions - is anti-climactic. But when taken together with the consistent lack of tourney success on one hand, and the ability shown in Australia on the other, it bites. express bowling 1
