We need a gold man.. One awesome performance will do it. I hope Ravi Kumar/Neeraj Chopra can get it. We need Golds to inspire belief that we can win. Not dissing a medal - but it would be nice to see someone go the distance - esp when you see countries like Bahamas, Bermuda, Puerto Rico, Kosovo, Georgia have golds

Agree. A gold will propel us to the next level where our players start thinking of it.

Once we target and prepare for golds, bronze will start flowing.

There was something wrong with the clock in our hockey match today, when 29 seconds were left it froze. Did others notice that? That last PC should never have taken place because we lost around 10 seconds due to the faulty clock/timer. Imagine the controversy had Germany converted that goal....whole tournament these umps have been screwing us over and today those in charge of timer did the same, almost succeeded with that last PC.

Want this story to develop. And please can influential Indian journalists raise their voices about incidents like this and sham umpiring? Put some pressure on authorities FGS, make some noise else they will repeat these stunts with impunity in the next big tournament.

Means if there is hurricane is something similar to duckworth lewis in gold. Silly question though

Agreed...  Our standings will take a jump as well.  I have expectations from Wrestlers.  Bit unfair to expect Gold from Neeraj...  Will be be Awesome if he pulls it off but his opponents are tough especially the German who is a freak.

Yes I noticed it was stuck at 29.8 . The ball was in play.

At that time I thought how they can cheat us at this level in daylight like this. Shameless bastards.

Right now it's dispiriting to read newspaper headlines like we at least got a silver - instead of saying we have a chance for gold. When Lovlina got to the semis- it was more about her winning at least a bronze than hoping she would beat her semi-final opponent.

Concerned officials should be fired for such kind of cheating/incompetence, and a life ban from officiating in hockey at any level.

Had Germans converted that PC I would have destroyed my room I guess, was fuming at that time.

On paper the San Marino guy Amine doesn't look like he has a chance against Deepak Punia - but after Vinesh's bout who knows... Hoping Deepak of the quarter finals shows up.

I don't see any concerns being raised by the Indian officials - even about the officiating in the tournament so far.

Skipper Manpreet and a few other players visited this legend's house when he wasn't doing well, Balbirji showed them his Olympic gold medals, asked them to touch it and made them promise they would win in Tokyo.

I remember i literally couldnt console myself in 2000 When india drew with Poland in the last min after conceding. They would have gone to play semi finals if they held on for thirty more seconds. It was heartbreaking..india incidentally was the best i had seen play during that time. 21 years of wait.. not qualifying for 2008.. what have we gone through.. If you dont know this is the toughest medal in all sports in Olympics. No other sports you have to play freaking 8 Matches for a medal. 5 group league. 1 qf. 1 SF. 1 F/1 Bronze play off. To put into perspective in boxing you need to win 2 matches in most cases for a medal. This medal is dedicated to all Indian hockey lovers.

To add to this, Hockey is the only outdoor team sport in Olympics where teams play their best players.

I knew the umps will try to deny us a bronze. so didnt watch. slept over and checked online. what a comeback from 1-3 down to win it. top class. it seems sreejesh was the wall among a barrage of PCs and good win for the whole team as well with a variety of strikers coming up with the goods. If only we had the same luck v belgium, we would be trying for gold. cheating umps :facepalm:We should file a report
