To everyone who participated in our discussions it has been a pleasure and fun and honour to be with you all. I mean this forum Is called Indian Cricket fans but today I can safely say not only we are cricket fans but we are indian sports fans..who on earth would stay up in night or wake up in the day to watch golf and birdies Or Walking Race or Sailing…I learned golf from this forum.. i learnt skeet shooting.. if you go through the whole forum pages every page will make you laugh, sigh and sometimes cry..from the heartbreak of Punia to unbelievable Lovlina, from the clutchness of Sindhu to the confidence of Chanu, and most importantly the joy which indian hockey team have given us cant be measured in terms of just a medal.. we have found new heores, we have found new inspiration and most importantly we have found conviction.. and all these with you all has been a lifetime memory.. it has etched into the mind.. to think of it many years down the line when we read articles in newspaper about the 2020 Tokyo Olympics a smile will appear on my face remembering this forum.. remembering you all.. i think end of the day sports in India has been the winner.. oh and about @Gollum must say one thing taking the words of a former Indian captain about another Indian captain..

only reason we were cricket fans is mostly cause that's the only thing we were good at.

 

now that we are doing well in so many sports, expect us to become a genuine multi sport country like usa, australia and european countries.

No we always had talent for most sports. Just nit the infrastructure and resources. 

 

Even in combat sports we have many tough warriors in India. Just not enough funding.

never said we didn't have talent. just that we were not good at it. and that was purely due to infrastructure and funding.

 

as india gets richer - expect sports to improve. and not just sports - space travel, public transport etc etc

And politics over selection. More officials went to olympics than atheletes and sportsperson. Olympic gold quest, TOPS are move in right direction. But we still need centre for excellence for at least 10 sports like UK has for cycling, swimming..

Well, after moving to Hyderabad 5 years back, I realized mentioning Ranchi doesn't ring bell for everyone. Of course, members here will know for sure. Mentioning Jharkhand along with Ranchi has just become a habit.
