KL Rahul for Test captaincy?

I know it's a bit premature as he wasn't even making the playing XI a couple of weeks back but really... looks like the real KL Rahul has finally arrived. He's looking assured, confident and most importantly..hungry for runs. Kohli is at the opposite end of spectrum in all those things. 

 

I know it most likely won't happen.. but really really hope the TM at least starts grooming him.

Hell no...I'd never see him as a captain. You need someone who is easy going on the field, but rahul is someone who takes the pressure which suffers his game.  Rohit >> anyone else. Rahane also OK with his calmness but his position is also not assured. I dont think too much about Pant's knowldge and tactical ability. Ashwin will make a good captain, I reckon.

Did not think he made an impression when captaining KPXI. 

Only a stop gap pick at the most . Even there i would prefer Ash or Rohit for 2-3 years. 

Want  someone who does not brood over things too much and mentally strong .

My pick would be Pant may after 3 years.

He is someone who is not that good at absorbing pressure. Plus he has a brooding personality and this may reflect on the team too.

 

Let him concentrate on his batting and realize his tremendous potential as an all format batsman. ( Something he hasn't been able to do so far and probably just starting to do so )

Kl Rahul is an ordinary captain based on what we have seen so far in IPL. Anil Kumble is doing all the captaincy from the dug out.

Secondly, KL Rahul comes across as a choker in the mould of Loli, not a good candidate for captaincy at all.

Yeah let's repeat the same mistake again. 

Make our best young batsman the next captain. Also he is surely not a leader, I think in tests only Rohit is an option but even he won't be playing for more than 2 years so not sure about that.

Tbh he looks like the most likely prospect atm. 

 

We won't ever make a bowler captain again so that rules out Ashwin. And he's 35. So is Rohit.. 

 

Rahane is all set to lose his spot (may score a 100 today and shut me up but I'm willing to risk)..

 

Pujara is well... 

 

The rest are either too raw (Gill, Shaw, Pant) or are in&outs (Mayank, Vihari) 

 

Maybe Jadeja? Would love to see Sanju Manju post match interviews with him..

Ye kuch zyada hi ho gaya. Sharma ji has proven himself indispensable in tests also, defying all expectations and fears about his shortcomings in the format.It can no longer be said that his place in tests is uncertain.

He is a proven leader and deserves a chance ahead of anyone. Rahane has turned into a runless wonder, or else he would be the right choice.

Rohit is 34, batting like a champ. For the next 1 year or so, he can captain and maybe for 1 more year if form and fitness hold up well.

Nope ..  If they decide to change things in next one & a half year Pant is the best candidate. 

Those who think this cannot happen they aren't seeing Kohli the batsman is declining so rapidly that it isn't even funny now. 

If this continues for another year he no longer will be a automatic pick & new coach & Ganguly will have to take the call.

Pant is already 3 years into the team. Dhoni got the captaincy after 3 years only.
