Ankit_sharma03 Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 I always get the feeling this guy despite all his improvement still doesnt know how to bat with tail. Batting with tail u need to face atleast 4-5 balls in an over and try to get as many in quick time. Jadeja on the other hand does the opposite as he gets off the strike in 1-2 balls. Neither does he try to up the pace as much as it needs to be. Sam curran has shown better skills at this. At his position he ll be in that situation a lot and our tail anyways wont last that long. Even in LOI this has been his problem from the start of his career. At home he still looks more in control byt overseas he doesnt look that much in command while tail is around. puneet28 Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 Also he is a terrible runner. I wonder why his running between wickets hasn't improved. He has been playing internationals mow for 12 years. Pick most of high profile run outs, he has been there on wicket. Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk

Charlie_ Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 He is a limited player and cannot hit boundaries. Frustrated 1

AuxiliA Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 Dude batting with tail ain't easy even for seasoned batsmen. Jadeja is a great test allrounder. But don't expect him to be AB devilliers. Cricspin, f20143g70, Trichromatic and 1 other 4
jf1gp_1 Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 I doubt even vvs would have been as brave he was with tail given our current lot rkt.india 1
javier26 Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 (edited) Good comparison with Sam Curran. Yes Sam Curran has shown that he has the ability to play with the tailenders. Curran scored 27 * ( 37 ) and 32 ( 45 ) in the first test. As people can notice these knocks came at a good SR, Jadejas approach meanwhile is of playing non-stop dot balls and take singles every over without scoring any boundaries How is that going to build the team total ? To bat with the tailenders , the dominant batsman has to get a boundary in the first three balls of the over and then take a single to leave 1-2 balls for the tailender to survive. That's how you keep amassing 5-6 runs every over and build the team total. Once the field is spread, Jadeja cannot hit boundaries so he plays it safe and looks to take a single and get off strike. His approach is to score 1 run per over. Once the 9th wicket is down and he finally takes the risk, he gets dismissed right away. Curran frustrated Indian bowlers in the first test by scoring fours and taking singles of the last ball, thus getting runs and shielding the tail at the same time. Jadeja doesn't even have 1% of that ability. Batting with the tailenders, runs can only be scored through boundaries, the 1 run/over approach and lack of ability to hit big shots of Jadeja only helps to accumulate 10 runs in 50 balls. So he may have tuk tuked and survived for 8-9 overs but only earned 10 runs for the team. Edited August 14, 2021 by javier26 AuxiliA, Sgattick10 and Banton 2 1

Time and again it has been proven that he can't score quickly under pressure. He is type of batsman who needs time and score at his own pace. More suitable for #5 than #7. Why is being forced to do something which he can't? Same thing happened in ODIs earlier. Yesterday he looked good and could have survived another 100 balls. nevada and Hell Raiser 2

Overrated? Just because he is better at surviving long time than batting with tail?

ShoonyaSifar Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 Jadeja does have a problem because he's no longer a no 8 batsman. Thinks and bats like someone who should be batting at 5. Also, Sam Curran bats well with the tail? What's the sample size? Last two innings at Nottingham? Other than these two innings, can you show one recent innings where he really batted well with the tail (he was exceptional in his debut year)
rollingstoned Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 Jadeja tried to get it away when we were 7 down but struggled and ended up taking the singles when they were on offer. he struggles at range hitting even in white ball cricket. Unless you bowl spin where he can use his feet this will be an issue with a spread out field negating most regular scoring areas.
Lone Wolf Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 Jaddu needs his release shots against spin.. In India Where spinners bowl majority wise he is very handful & manages to score quick runs with Tail. Overseas he lacks common sense & unnecessary goes into shell sometimes. Probably he either underestimates his partners or does opposite. He needs balance in his approach. Also batting order is in shambles.. Siraj can't be your no 11 with an average of over 11. Bumrah is a designated no 11 in my view.
ash Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 Remember Dhoni's words after Ashwin and Jadeja pulled off a famous tie against Newzealand in 2014. " I had faith in them (Ashwin and Jadeja), but my problems started when Jadeja told Bhuvi what he needs to do. "

Sam curran in 22 test has an avg of 26 with SR of 64. So basically Jaddu scores more runs and bats a touch longer than curran. Lord 1

Lone Wolf Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 Sam Curran comparison is way off.. He is 22 years of age while Jaddu has a decade of experience behind him. He is 31+ ffs.
rtmohanlal Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 At least Jadeja is making some runs apart from 'being effective as a bowler at the least in helpful conditions'. So this is the least of the problems from him. Make him bat higher up the order to take his own time . Ideally he should be at 5 and Pant at 6. All rounders like H.Pandya, Ashwin,Bhuvi & Thakur can bat at 7 depending on 'the tea composition based on conditions'. But highly unlikely because of the arrogant dumb ass nepotist senseless kohli
Sgattick10 Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 I have always felt Ashwin is a better batsman then Jadeja, has more range as strokemaker. Jadeja has a higher avg cos more often then not, he bats selfishly and tries to not get out so his avg is better. Frustrated and AuxiliA 1 1
