G_B_ Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 Jaddu was struggling to hit boundaries...thats the truth. Lets say he farms the strike and fails to hit out. The scoreboard would simply not move on,. Frustrated 1
zen Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 Even in his so called best form, he getting 30-40s … and probably thinks about not outs to boost up his avg

Jadeja has a higher avg cos more often then not, he bats selfishly and tries to not get out so his avg is better. What else you feel/felt? Cricspin and sarchasm 2

New guy Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 As i said in the match thread, promote jadeja to bring stability after rahane. Let pant bat with the tail and go berserk. Pant is also good at rotating the strike Lord 1

CodeOfWisden Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 Jadeja needs to bat at 5 or at most 6, his innings yesterday never really took off. rtmohanlal 1
neel roy Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 Issue with Ashwin is technical. He still fiddles around ball outside off stump when the ball is swinging. He also plays on the rise when its not meant to. Due to this majority of his innings overseas other than sydney one is a quick 20/25. On other hand Jadeja now has solid defensive technique which lets him survive to score more runs in overseas conditions.. Pant at no 7 would be a waste because then he cannot build his innings and he ll get out hitting when he is with tailenders. Will you sacrifice pants 30/40s to get Jadeja a 60. Net result will be negative.. its a fine balance

Lord Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 Last match he attacked when Shami came and denied singles. Got out doing it and was bashed. This match too he was atleast trying to expose them less.Left Ishant one ball and he got out on that. And for crowd who think he cares for not out,why would he slog like he did yesterday when Siraj came in?Would be much easier to give it to him. Cricspin 1
ShoonyaSifar Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 Non-existent middle order, non-existent tail. Caught between these, poor souls Pant and Jadeja, despite saving the team multiple times from embarrassments, being blamed for their respective batting approaches - one for being over aggressive, other for being defensive and selfish. Put even VVS in Jadeja's place in clown's team, he will prefer the same approach as Jadeja with this tail which can't even survive for a few overs. rtmohanlal, GautiMaan, Cricspin and 2 others 2 3
Serpico Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 He was too defensive against Ali yesterday. He can't smash fast bowlers unless they bowl in his arc, he should realise what his strengths are Lord 1

Bhai, it's same as what shoonyashifar said, there is no escape. If you hit out like Pant, you're villain, if you defend, then there is problem. Basically 2 batsmen have ability to defend and attack and we have problem with them. Lord 1
AuxiliA Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 Lol people are still questioning his batting for real. He has scored more runs in this series than our star middle order combined! What more do you expect from an allrounder? To bat like Viv Richards? And no Ashwin is not a better bat than Jadeja. He scored most of his runs against WI and at home. While Jadeja scores evenly in all conditions.
maniac Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 Jadeja is not a match winner, he is a great utility player. He will score a 50 or even take 4 wickets but usually will not have an impact on the outcome of the game. Only thing that is game changing is his fielding. He is a guy you can expect to have good contributions that will help win the match but will not have that defining innings or spell that will win matches on most occasions.

Which format are you talking about? I have seen Jadeja giving match winning performances many times in test cricket.

He has played some good innings recently but he never plays a defining knock like a 100 when everyone else flops or change the course of the game with a spell. Always just about adequate. Good player, deserves his spot but is not the X factor player we make him out to be.

I think Ishant did well to block one end with the bat, Jaddu has been performing really well but yesterday's innings was a lil weird in my opinion. To each his own. England's tail didn't hang around too long but Root played so beautifully so if there's one flaw in Jadeja then it is his partnerships with the lower order. He takes single on first balls and goes for big shots only when we are 9 down. I don't think performance of middle order has anything to do with this, that is a separate topic and everyone knows that they have been pathetic but again that's got zero connection with Jadeja's batting with tailenders. Was denying singles to Shami too IIRC

Jadeja faced remaining 59 deliveries scoring 25 runs (was at 15* when Pant got out) After Ali's dismissal, Eng faced 17 overs, scoring 50 runs, their 7-11 faced 62 deliveries and scored 11 runs. Root faced 41 deliveries and scored 29 (was at 151* when Ali got out). Who exposed the tail more? Who batted better with the tail? Edited August 14, 2021 by ShoonyaSifar Lord and Cricspin 2
