Kohli somewhat forgiven for dropping Ashwin in the England series now

This was always expected when Sundar got injured. We don't even have a half decent offspinner in the reserve. Hope Sundar improves his bowling to replace ashwin in red ball cricket.

Don’t worry guys, we still have time till 10th Oct to make changes, this is where the having IPL in UAE will benefit us, selectors can assess the pitches and performance of players and make changes if necessary. I think Axar and Thakur’s places will be swapped in the final 15 + 3 reserves

I don't underestimate his bowling, but Krunal's batting is better.

I feel that selectors have gone for specialists, which is a consistent pattern with Indian selections even for T20.  But in T20, more often than not, its a batting shootout, and having a guy at #7 who can put up a 30 ball 50, or can come in and give you that cameo of 25 from 12, has value.

Axar can slog it a bit, on his day, but not reliably.

Yards the better bowler, no doubt, but I'd even go as far as saying that in t20 cricket, I rate Krunal the batsman bit better than even Jadeja.  This is not to say I am a Krunal fan - he's a quintessential bits and pieces player, just about barely adequate with either skillset, but in T20 such players often end up making crucial contributions over the course of a WC.

Axar's power hitting has improved a lot dude. Anyway let us hope for the best, this is a very strong squad. No doubt we are the heavy favorites.

The way our top 5 bat,no. 7 dont get much batting.Bowling/fielding becomes more crucial

India has zero games in Sharjah..   So well thought out strategy to go with spin heavy attack on tired pitches.

Firangi sides aren't surviving the mayhem in KO's..  Thala Dhoni is there to help out spinners:csk:

Yes

Fir tou badiya hai yaar, Shardul & Deepak both are there with squad, I expect Shami to break down in the IPL anyway, so ek tou pakka aajayega main squad mei

One thing selectors and TM must do is not confuse between Indian IPL and UAE IPL.....both different conditions and Wankhede/Motera/Chinnaswamy/Eden performances shouldn't count for much. Players who do well in India may not necessarily do well in UAE, and vice versa. To come up with the perfect squad (still time to make changes) and XI only IPL 2020 and the upcoming second half of IPL should be considered.

Who knows, Ishan may be a better bet than Pant in these conditions? Something similar with other players as well. Shami may enjoy bowling in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Not selecting Collar-muncher was the cake but no Dhawan is the icing on it. Top stuff.

But Shardul should have been there, looked good in Ahmedabad T20s vs England with his off cutters and obviously is so handy with the bat. Only one out of Axar/Jaddu should have been picked with Ashwin and Varun already.

wnt make any diff

I differ on this though i hated last 3 years of Dhoni as a player. He was really good strategist when pitches are slow and spin plays a part in short format.

I cannot think of any better indian mentor as of now .

The only drawback is that Siraj isn't even in the reserves, he should have been chosen over Chahar. Bowled really well in the IPL , looked much improved loi bowler.

Agree overall good.

Yes Siraj is missing and they could have swapped Chakravarthy to reserves and put another seamer in the main team (D chahar/Thakur)

I do like Kishan but rate SHAW higher than him.

Shaw has issues against spin, and struggled in IPL 2020 on UAE decks.

And not having batting in the lower order, perpetuates that retrograde strategy of batting in T20 as if its a short ODI.

Needless to say, I'm not a fan of that tactic.
