Yes, but his ego won't let him do that.  He'll cite his T20 "average" and all that other irrelevant nonsense.  Kohli put his "average" in the Pakistan game - question is, did it help the team win?  

 

I mean, not to be harsh on him for that game - he actually did decent relative to what he's capable of.  And if things go his way in the death, the entire match story would play out differently.

 

But yes, given his skillset and batting style, Team India would be best suited if Virat becomes more selfless in whiteball cricket.  Not just in T20s.  

 

And there are some on this forum who have been advocating that for 4 years now.

You want to know what will really compound him coming in at 3, is if and most likely Hitman and KL go tuk tuk in the first 6 overs.

 

Nothing can be more surer than a cautious careful start if India bat first v NZ. Expect India to be around 0/35 or 1/40 after 6 overs. Kohli will further worsen this position.

Kishan should replace Hardik and come in as opener with Pant. Rohit at 3, SKY at 4, Rahul at 5, Kohli at 6 or just sit in the dugout and send Thakur(should replace Bhuvi) for slogging. This is how I would do it.

He will cite his t20I strike rate too, that's the advantage of being a GOAT t20i player, anyone criticising Kohli's batting in t20is has no clue of what he has been consistently doing for the team.

In t20is you can't say that he has been selfish,looks like you haven't watched enough t20is. 

 

In odis yes, he needs to take a more carefree approach now but that's only bcoz middle order is way stronger now, if any poster wanted him to do this four years ago than he was definitely wrong about that. 

Virat has been brilliant in t20is, no doubt about it.

I hate lolli but the fact that we lost is not completely on him..  Yes team selections were poor...  And I predict he will more likely play same playing XI with perhaps only Shardul for Bhuvi. 

 

The kind of bowling display we saw was piss poor...  England would have cantered home in 13-14 overs with that sh*** crap we witnessed. 

 

He is Panauti & deep down he probably knows it.  It is what it is.  But team is handicapped with losers at the top & frauds like Jaddu & Pandu at the bottom.  What the f*** is he supposed to do with that?

I don't think there was any big mistake as far as selection is concerned. 

Yes strategically we weren't good enough, but I think luck and Afridi's great bowling has more to do with our loss. 

I don't think Shardul is a big upgrade over Bhuvi as far as bowling is concerned.

Why just Kohli? Rohit has batted in the middle order for MI when required. Let him be a floater in T20Is.

 

In fact every player should be a floater. Why can't Pandya/Pant/Jadeja bat at 3 if a spinner is bowling (or even otherwise) when the openers get out? Our senior batsmen can't bowl , at least let them show some flexibility in their batting position.

• Jadeja ahead of panyda- blunder . We let imad n shadab go easily, hardik has mauled them 
• shami is not a t20 bowler and bhuvi is nowhere close to his best, shardul is inform and conditions suit him- massive blunder.

Tumhare galat sochne se galat sahi to nhin ho jata, bhuvi isnt even half as effective as he was.  Shardul isnt competing with past bhuvi he is competing with current one who frankly shudnt havent been in 15
