I6MTW Posted October 27, 2021 Posted October 27, 2021 I think Rahul will struggle in high profile matches when there is swing and movement, especially against left arm , as evident against Pakistan, and the WC SF 19. I think Rahul will best be suited as a middle order bat, it will strengthen our middle order, in case top order collapses. He is also one of the few batsmen who is capable of going from ball one. Let Rohit open with Kishan, and Kohli bat at no 3. Let Pant, and Rahul play in middle order, and choose one of SKY/Pandya. Kothili, Frustrated and Adi_91 2 1
Sandeep99 Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 Agreed. Also allows us to spread out Rohit-Rahul in the line up. Kishan should open which is an advantage with left-right combination Kothili 1
cricketfan28 Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 if swing is a problem kohli should open ..
Majestic Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 Let Pujara open. He was part of CSK so he must not have gone home and watching the match with his family in the stadium. nitinbwj 1

Khota Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 No. Rahul should only play at top. One bad day and everyone is after him.
SRT100 Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 All these changes should be experimented and trialed during meaningless bilateral series and not a potential world cup elimination game v NZ. Indian Cricket has failed again in not preparing adequately nor having the right resources ie players for this world cup. Lord 1
SRT100 Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 Take this as a certainty, KL will open with Hitman. Kohli will change nothing.
Lone Wolf Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 Yes & push Kishan to open. Rahul will always be nervy in big games. He doesn't has nerves of steel to succeed in big games plus he is a worse batsman I have seen vs left arm seam. He is more talented. Than aby of our players so he will succeed at no 4/5 easily
Clarke Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 Who's dropped from MO if Kishan opens & Rahul is in MO ? SKY ? I hope not. Ideally, one of Rohit/Kohli wouldn't be part of the 11 if we had the competitive approach for T20s instead of the seniority based culture. Eng were able to move Root out a while back while it took us ages to move beyond Dhawan. Lord 1

He won't field as well because of his fragile fitness. I agree either or both of Kohli and Rohit should've been dropped from t20s but we have to make do with what we have.

RajBan Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 Rahul should open and Kishan should be 1 down.
