What was the logic behind bowling Pandya when the game was almost done?

I mean I can understand if this was a close game and one of the 5 bowlers had an off day

or

Pandya was bowling all these days and was in great rhythm but

It felt like a face saving effort giving him the ball.

Pandya was too injured to bowl all these days.

didn’t bowl in the  split IPL  seasons (spread over 6 months), didn’t bowl in the England series.  Was injured and not available for the first game. Now if he is being saved so

much what was the point making him bowl when the opposition needed 20 odd runs with 9 wickets in hand and 8 overs left?

Did anyone even notice that SKY wasn’t playing today? The fact that we didn’t even make a fuss about or miss him speaks about how much impact he has had so far but that’s a debate for another day, however how many adjustments do we have to keep making for accommodating Pandya?

its not about Pandya. A guy who is fragile and injured and hasn’t bowled in over an year and is still undergoing rehab suddenly starts bowling the next game after 1) he is heavily trolled and criticized and potentially dropped and 2) starts bowling after a game has become meaningless.

Would he have bowled had this been a dead rubber game? I don’t think so

India fields tried and tested failures in pressure games like Rohit and Kohli, and here we are talking about balance, and that too when the guy came in at 48-4 (not 48-1 or 2) and took Ind to 94.

Let's get rid of Rohit & Kohli first

By all means. They should be accountable and dealt with accordingly

Are you for real?

Kohli has won two Man of the tournaments awards in t20s and has performed in almost all t20 knockout matches in the world cup.

In which fantasy land are you living?

Pandyas OTOH again flopped today when we needed him to finally play a consequential knock.

How else would Kohli justify keeping Pandya in the team if he didn't bowl.

Once the game was lost - Pandya was given the ball for Dibbly Dobbly to justify being an "all rounder"

That just shows that the team leadership is rattled. They bowled Pandya to show the public that keeping him in the team was not a mistake. They opened with Ishan Kishan and bumped up Rohit because the media was clamoring for him. I just think these guys were in a bad spot mentally.

As practice for the real games against Namibia and Scotland when he can take some cheap wickets and this fraud all rounder will be guaranteed a spot for next 5 years

If you heard Kohli in the last game, he said Pandya is getting better and may bowl later in the tournament.

I believe he isn't completely fit and should not have been picked.
