Rantzz Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 Hear me out as I strategize. if NZ beat AFG it’s all a mute point. End thread here. Now if India go above AFg in NRR, then not only will AFG think they have to win but they will have to win handsomely to make it to semis knowing India can catch up against Namibia. This adds extra pressure on them and they could end up losing due to added pressure A contrarian view is for India to be behind AFG on NRR giving them hope that any victory over NZ could get them to semis. Then India can obviously make it up against Namibia speedheat, sage, Mariyam and 8 others 2 2 2 3 2
Singh bling Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 I think Afghans very well know India will surpass them in match against Nambia
sensible-indian Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 (edited) Haha...nice thread. I get you. But better to do the right thing than overthink and get it wrong. Another way to look at it would be Afghanistan playing out of their skins against NZ which gives them the cushion to overcome the choke to win it. Anything can happen. straighttalk Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 Excellent point.. i was thinking of the same.. hopefully mujeeb plays.. not sure where the match is but if afghan bats first and score around 140 assuming its dubai.. they are in with a chance.. even though dubai hepa chasing.. i think afghans are better off batting first SrinjayDutta 1
maniac Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 We are not going to qualify buddy. Just enjoy the minnow bashing to restore some lost pride at least for now. Bigg Brother, Texan, Adi_91 and 3 others 6
rageaddict Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 (edited) Could be or maybe this will take all the pressure off them knowing that their WC Campaign is all over. Indian NRR is 1.6 and Afghan NRR is 1.4. So even if Afghans win the next match against NZ , their NRR margin will be bettered by India in their match against Namibia. Now Afghanistan has nothing to lose and could use the final match to score a victory and leave the tournament on a good note. However, now all the pressure would be on NZ as for them it's a must win match and they are in reckoning for the Semis Spot. Afghans have nothing to lose now but NZ have everything on the line. Rantzz Posted November 5, 2021 Author Posted November 5, 2021 Now AFG has nothing to play for. There is no way they can beat NZ big enough to surpass what India would do to Namibia
Vivek92 Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 (edited) Look at it this way, the coming match for the Afgans would probably be the most watched match in their history, when not playing against India. All the players know that there is an IPL auction shortly, beat NZ with some eye catching performance, would automatically result in a big money IPL bid. Edited November 5, 2021 by Vivek92

Cricketphile Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 There is also a possibility that India will lose to Namibia, in which case the winner of the Afghanistan New Zealand game will go through, regardless of run rates
goose Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 disagree. teams that need to win by a minimum margin are more likely to win.
The Great Punjab Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 If I'm not mistaken Abu Dhabi has had the best scores so far. If it comes down to a batting matchup, the balance tilts NZ way. AFG spinners will need to reign in NZ for them to have a chance.
cricketfan28 Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 (edited) AFG seek to upset atleast one big team , they will go for it. Edited November 5, 2021 by cricketfan28

Did you take into account the fact that a mini asteroid could land in the Indian ocean which could cause heavy rainfall over the Middle East. The chasing team, safe to say India's opponent, will have their task cut out due to the Duck-Worth Lewis lottery. India should set a score accordingly and take early wickets. Unagi. sage Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 good thread. we chased it too quickly and now afghanistan are pretty much knocked out or will have to try chasing something ridiculous like 150 in 12 overs to get ahead of us and will lose in the process maniac 1
