Texan Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 It is the equivalent of watching Dhoni hit meaningless sixes after the game has already been lost. When all was almost lost, we start playing with freedom when they should have played with this attitude from the beginning. Did the IPL low scores play a part in the team trying to be too conservative in their batting approach earlier in the tournament? express bowling and maniac 2
zen Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 No, Ind has many old fashioned players who like to take time … Against a better bowling attack, they could have batted differently In IPL, many Indian batsmen played with intent in PPs
maniac Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 I agree with that theory, indian players were playing on 140-160 par scores in the IPL and before that these guys were playing on green tops vs Anderson. Maybe it seems like a piece of cake for arm chair experts like us but it is tough to switch on and off so fast. Having said that still not an excuse, should have picked players on form as well. They all played like scared rabbits. Only kohli, Rohit and Jadeja are old fashioned.
vvvslaxman Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 MI missed the opportunity of testing Kishan at the top order. Same way Pant never gave himself enough batting practice by coming up the order. In the IPL your role, partners, approach everything is different. When you combine all these guys you don't necessarily field a team that gels well right off the bat. If you take CSK every batsman had a role they executed perfectly even though most of their players were past by sell date. India never has that fool proof impenetrable unit that can withstand shocks. This has been the case in all formats. Knock out the top order you are into tail sooner than you think. This pattern will continue until we find 4/5/6 who are as good as 1/2/3. Norman 1

When they all play for India, their first worry is not "triggering" collapse due to the fact there is no lower order batting. You don't have Andre Russell, Pollard, Dwyane Bravo coming down the order to keep taking risks.

Laaloo Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 No. These players have been conservative since 2008. So maybe yes.

straighttalk Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 Thats true but wrong way of looking at things.. yes 456 are not as good as kohli or rohit but india could switch the batting around a little bit. Secondly our 456 are better than many other teams 456.. if they can play freely so can we.. it is all relative
ShoonyaSifar Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 No excuses. We were piss poor in first two matches, faced much better opponents and the team looked largely disinterested and divided. Losing the tosses didn't help either. Less said about the captaincy the better Now they are playing for pride and therefore playing out of their comfort zone. Vijy 1

nevada Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 I think we never recovered after the shellacking in the first game. Typically, we put up a par score against Pakistan in world cups and they just implode. 150 was a decent score but Pakistan had other ideas. And then, losing the toss against NZ seemed to have deflated our team totally. Of course, against NZ we likely would have crumbled while chasing also, but batting first was a disaster. Adi_91 1

They know their asses are getting kicked, even paid media has read the pulse and guys like Bhogle and Chopra are trying to sound more rational and not just sucking Kohli, Rohit ,Jadeja and Bumrah shamelessly how they usually do. The Great Punjab Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 Batting first in Dubai has been the most difficult if one just glances over all the results there. Toss was crucial at this venue. A combination of toss, team selection, losing quick wickets in the PP, timing of the bowlers in the first two games led to India's fall. Guptill did well against Scotland in carrying NZ through the other day. nevada 1

That Pak loss turned it around for them and derailed our campaign.
Vilander Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 Pak bowlers bowled fast and accurate. Indian batsmen could not see ba so could not hit ball. NZ bowlers bowled with lots of variations so Indian batsmen could not keep their wicket and accelerate. Its basically lack of skill. If they bow out of semis or they sneak through does not make much of a difference..
