Vikram Rathour, Paras Mhambrey, T Dilip set to be India support staff

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to appoint T Dilip, Paras Mhambrey and Vikram Rathour as fielding, bowling and batting coaches of the Indian team. All will work under head coach Rahul Dravid, who was instrumental in having the three appointed to his support staff.

Dilip, a Hyderabad-based fielding coach previously travelled with the Indian team to Sri Lanka under Dravid in July.

The appointment of Mhambrey was on the expected lines given the long association the former Mumbai pacer had with Dravid at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Under-19 and India A teams.

Rathour was also an automatic choice given that he has had good reviews from the Indian team. He recently disclosed that he had applied for the position.

All that money and resources yet end up with mediocrity and Dravid's friends taking key coaching positions

Rathore has some serious lobby in bcci. He was selector than NCA coach than batting coach of the Indian team.

Now entire team management is being changed but he remains.

Not to mention that he became Indian selector despite holding a British passport.

That's impropriety ...  a foreigner can be a coach, but only an Indian passport holder should be a selector

How the heck did Rathour manage to keep his job? Shameless bugger ought to have resigned but brazenly reapplied and actually got the gig again! Failure after failure in games that matter and still this awhole wants to continue. As someone said, why do we even need a separate batting coach when Dravid is there as chief coach?

Rathour got the job because he fixed the lower order batting. Story goes like this that he spent more time with lower order batsmen than the main ones..bumrah himself has acknowledged and so has shami.. shami didnt even used to bring  batting kit for practice and bhangar saab was only interested in showing technique to top order batsmen..

That's a good contribution but still, he is a failure given how the specialist batsmen continued to flop for such an extended period.

Paras was assistant coach under dravid when india won under 19 cricket wc in 2018 in nz

Not sure about the rest

But if its a combo under which dravid has won silverware at this stage we should not judge.

They can supplement the staff depending on tour or conditions for local expertise.
