Lol keep living in denial. There are so many other aggressive openers out there. Even Afghanistan tries to hit sixes if they are 3-4 down. Meanwhile our kaptaan is busy taking  singles in the poweplay. Our openers are happy hitting occasional boundaries. The rot starts at the top. You start giving opportunities to aggressive openers and it will trickle down to the bottom.

How does getting agressive openers solve issues of having useless players like Pandya .When will this guy deliver when it counts.The rot is because openers are the best finishers for this team. You are living in denial thinking openers are the problem.This is not IPL when any tom dick and harry will come into score runs. You need some talent.Noone is more talented than Rahul or Rohit as of now.

First of all, I’ve been going after this entire t20 team for more than a decade now. Their lack of innovative shots, power hitting, aggressive intent. You seem to have issues with only the lower order hitting. Well newsflash, I’ve had issues with them too. But the top order has been a problem for more than a decade now. Warner took apart iMad in the power play yesterday after an early wicket. You know what our maharathis would  done? Single single dot dot single dot. That’s the difference. In the mindset, in the approach. You give a long rope to kishen and Shaw at the top and they will fail a little more than Rohit and Rahul but they have the ability to take the game away in the first six overs. You keep being in denial about this current top orders who are happy with 40 runs in the power play.

Warner is noway better player T20  than either Rohit or Rahul.  Warner could go for broke knowing very well they had batting to follow. What is there to follow top 3.It is not realistic to expect 70 or 80 runs everytime in power play. Once lower order start producing runs top order automatically becomes more efficient. So thinking Shaw would do better than Rohit or Rahul is just plain silly. Ishan nor Shaw have the same ability as Rahul. Rohit is on his last legs.It is just matter of time he is done in T20 cricket.

Abdul Samad is definitely worth giving a shot at 5. I have not given up hope on Pant at 4 but he needs to get his head in the right place. He clearly lacks on the mental side of the LOI game. Top three should be KL, Kishan and Sky. They need to be given a solid run from here onwards.

I think we lack hard hitting batsmen who hv the X factor.   None of our batsmen know how to execute reverse sweep, paddle sweep or any other out of the box shots which can disturb a bowler's rythm.     I don't think our batsmen can even think of playing those shots which Mathew Wade displayed yesterday against 150 speed of Shaheen Afridi.

Spot on,They are too conventional in stroke play. Guy like Rohit if does not kickon from slow start looks like he is dragging his team down.

This exactly this...  We need players who can hit those scoops & reverse sweeps.  I think Surya should be our finisher.  Hid game doesn't look like that of a Top 3 player.  He plays high risk shots...  That are more suited at the end. 

Wade is a T20 opener by default but his game & 360 degree stroke making ability made him succeed in that Semi final. 

Stoinis was looking dud for a long while as he also lacks innovation but only has power game.

He can change gears . 
his batting abilities are perhaps most underrated .

 

Left handed batters in general have a natural advantage in power hiring as they Seem to have more power and timing . Gilchrist / Yuvraj / pant/ gayle .. the swing of the bat always is larger and almost golf like . Right handed batters seem to be better pullers and hookers

 

if u groom left handed batters, likely better chances of finding 6 hitters

Ind has talented power hitters. The issue is in having unrealistic expectations in sports.

 

Asif Ali scored runs v NZ and AFG (batting 2nd) … failed in SF (batting first)

Neesham scored runs v Eng (batting 2nd)  … failed in game v Pak (batting first)

Wade scored runs v Pak (batting 2nd) … did nothing much earlier iirc 

 

Many want our power hitters to do that in every game. When SDP took 17 runs off Afridi’s over (many will post 11 off 8 while when someone’s leg bye goes for a 4 to win a game, they will cheer for that) and scored 35 off 13 versus AFG, both batting first,  many likely felt bad because of unrealistic expectations (and wanting power hitters to fail to support Tuk Tuk players) and a lack of understanding of sports in general

No he does not have ability to hit sixes.His batting is more suited for test cricket, he is more left handed version of Shastri.

Dube built like a tank. You would expect him to smoke gigantic sixes every match. But it rarely happens.  Iyer is a guy who can smoke big sixes when he connects. If he can address the area of dot ball he can stage a come back. Samson can hit cleanly. But he has to stay long enough to do that. I don't think he ever improved in that area. One great knock followed by 3 or 4 dud knocks.  Hooda another inconsistent guy. But he has the ability to maintain high strike rate. In syed tournament he scored 4 fifties at a strike rate of 175 with highest number of sixes for the season. Let us not just focus on the IPL.
