ash Posted January 15, 2022 Posted January 15, 2022 Considering that we don’t have anything in SENA in this cycle and Ashwin probably is the 1st person to be picked in Indian conditions, I would choose him. Can be a temporary fill like Kumble for 2 years ykvyas and f20143g70 1 1
First class Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 Bumrah would have been the best choice but considering his work and risk for injuries, better leave him alone. Dont thinl Pant is ready for the job right now, his performance has been too erratic and Rahul lacks confidence and leadership qualities . Considering all , like Kumble did in that past Ashwin should take over test captaincy for couple of years and then Pant or someone could be ready . f20143g70 and South_Paw 2
Number Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 Rohit needs to keep himself fit now. He is half the time injured. Frustrated and SRT100 1 1

GeeGaw Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 YOu can't be captain if you miss more matches than you play, so Rohit is out. Frustrated 1
R!TTER Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 If it was last year same time it'd be Rahane hands down, too bad asshole cap tried to steal the limelight & lost us important games in Eng/SA thereafter!

SRT100 Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 You make Ashwin captain, the first thing he will do is drop Kohli. Please let it happen only for the lols. Vijy and South_Paw 2
kosingh Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 I would make Pant captain. Yes he's immature. But we have easy home series coming up. We are going to win regardless. Good time to let Pant make mistakes and learn. And Kohli would sill be around to mentor him.

vvvslaxman Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 Pant should the one given that he is likely to have a longer career. Seen keepers captaining sides. Also he wants to do well in Tests. Despite his flaws he should be the one. Rohit sharmais very close to retirement from Tests. Otherwise one captain for all formats will be easier to handle. KL Rahul strict NO NO. Ashwin is one year away from retirement. Jadeja is another injury specialist. HE will also retire soon. Vijy 1
vvvslaxman Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 Graeme smith was even more a rookie when he assumed captaincy at the age of 22.

Khota Posted January 17, 2022 Posted January 17, 2022 Rotate between all of them. No need for a permanent captain

SRT100 Posted January 17, 2022 Posted January 17, 2022 Let me say the biggest problem is that the BCCI acted probably 2 years too late in this area. Changes should have been made years ago, when the writing was on the wall. Then whoever was made captain, it wouldnt have mattered as much as they would have been playing all this time. Now a scenario has occured where the captain selected is a dilemma. Vijy 1
dilliboy Posted January 17, 2022 Posted January 17, 2022 Good article highlighting the Indian cricket's valuation of marketability over tactical acumen when deciding their captains https://indianexpress.com/article/sports/cricket/rahuls-possible-coronation-a-sign-of-ipl-logic-infiltrating-indian-cricket-7726961/
