Its why kids in Australia from the age of 17+ can nominate for the draft in (AFL or Rugby) and play when they turn 18. Its also why they can if good enough play in the Big Bash. A lot of kids in Australia are not only good at cricket, but usually other sports as well depending on which state they are from usually. Whoever set the rule, needs to appreciate that these kids could potentially be lost to other sports or other interests. Its rather foolish, not to mention for some kids of a poor background a massive loss of earning potential. Its actually madness to have this rule in India. Link to comment

Apart from Tendulkar only Bedade/Robin singh had somewhat decent strike during the mid 90s. VIkram Rathour's (our current batting coach) had a strike rate of 58. That was low even in that era.
