Jadeja is having serious injury issues and may not be able to play much longer.

 

Plus Axar is a better LOI bowler.

I would like Sundar to improve his hitting ability in white ball cricket and work on his red ball bowling some more.

 

Axar is the more finished product of the two but it would be nice if he tries to think like a No.7 batsman in tests and practice for this role. He definitely has the basics for this.

 

We may not have the services of Jadeja and Ashwin for much longer.

Now that we have Hooda's part time spin, Pandya as seam allrounder,  Axar as spin allrounder and Sundar waiting in line as well, what is the need for Jadeja?

Not indispensable but have these three done enough to displace him from LOIs? Let's be honest, Axar failed to grab his chances vs. Ireland and SA. Hooda, at best, is a no.5, Pandya's position. Jadeja is specialist no.7 and unfortunately, has good record since that Australia series.

Also remember axar is 6'1 and sundar is 6'2.5  

We don't usually have these type as spinner/batsman.

Awesome hitting. Certainly has improved batting. Can’t have both him and Jadeja. Jadeja might choose more Tests and Axar on  ODIs and Sundar on T20s. Time to choose specialists for each format

Axar Patel is going to be a great star of Indian cricket team in future. He is such a talented spinner.

Axar was hitting it cleanly even in IPL recently. Inexplicably, he couldn't bring that hitting form in internationals. Glad that he did that last night.

Windies pitches are sluggish..Guys like Iyer and Axar will do well on these pitches. Take them to Australia and South Africa and they will show what they are when compared with SKY and Jadeja.

 

SKY will do well on fast pitches in ODIs too, just that he has too many shots so will be criticised more due to playing  rash shots especially in critical situations.

yes yes yes and WI team arent the ones who win key moments. 

 

• Said before 1st ODI - iyer will score runs as this bowling attack has nothing to challenge him
• Regd Axar- he played well and has been doing well then jadeja in such situation for a while, his base is also better then jadeja but i wnt get to excited as he got some very shitty balls . Also his bowling on quick wkts has been a different story . 
• About SKY- never felt he ll succeed beyond t20 , even if he finds some success it wont be long term

One issue eith Axar is that ... he hasn't been much of a wicket taker in any of the white balls formats.

It is almost a lottery. Hooda was  a hero not long ago. Now under the pump. Pretty much all players are inconsistent. More flash in the pan performances. No consistency. you can't win tournaments with inconsistent players.  Need more evidence to be excited about Axar's "hitting" ability. Deepak Chahar has twice done this. Once pulled off a win. Other time almost miraculously pulled off a win.

looks like Axar has improved his batting/hitting but it has come at cost of bowling.

Axar is contributing with bat or ball on most occasions.. remarkable run of form.. well ahead of Jadeja in my book..  Jadeja can string partnerships during 70/5 situations.. need to see if Axar can do that..
