Otherwise he is not even at Pujara level let alone Dravid level. May be at no.6 he can be handy in stalling the collapse (while going nowhere) Yes it seems they want someone who can hold one end while others bat around him. However he needs a stretch of home games too tbf. I think he'll play atleast till Aus series then they'll assess. Rohit Rahul out also allowed him to play with Pujara opening. Link to comment
Texan
Yet another bad shot to get out. No feet movement, just throwing bat at a wide ball. Wonder why selectors don't see that he is not the technically correct batsman that they think he is. express bowling 1 Link to comment

Backfoot shots are good buy front foot doesn't move much. Alistair Cook was hardly a front foot player but still had a good career. Link to comment

Sean Bradley
As long as there is a rope given to Kohli, players like Vihari will continue to have a free ride in the team and continue to piggy back on such unwarranted ropes. Frustrated 1 Link to comment

They used this comparison technique to prolong their career. When Pujara clicks. he is still better than Rahane/Kohli. When Kohli clicks he is still better than Pujara/Rahane. In home games also he has done nothing special. This guy just doesn't have the spark. For all his faults, Iyer seized the moment with a century on debut. Home conditions, sure, but what did Vihari do in the same conditions? Not much. Sean Bradley and express bowling 2 Link to comment

That's so true.....When Kohli score some 41 run in SA we heard the same thing. Right now as well Gujara band wagon giving the same excuse and it was no different when Hahane made that scintillating Melbourne 100. What I say is kick them all out . express bowling
Picking new batsmen with glaring weaknesses against bounce and swing ... and then expecting them to succeed ... does not work that way. Iyer got bounced out by Potts bowling long hops at 130-135. This is disgraceful. Vijy and raki05 1 1 Link to comment
dilliboy
I can understand persisting with Kohli and Pujara because of their past record but what has Vihari done to get this long a rope? Link to comment

Saved a test in Australia by hanging around with Ashwin. They together survived almost 35 overs on 5th day, after we had lost 6 wickets. Link to comment

Had a horrible match with bat and dropped the all important catch of JB when he was on 12.A match losing effort. Frustrated 1 Link to comment

Vijy
vihari is gritty - good temperament. but that's about it - he does not have the game to score 50s, let alone 100s, in SENA. he could be used in WI, however. Link to comment

Mariyam
I admit I don't know much about Vihari, but I see enormous pun potential when he plays for India. Picture this scenario: Vihari bats along with the tail and defeats Sri Lanka. Headline: Hanuma burns Lanka with his tail. The possibilities are endless. diga, vvvslaxman, nevada and 3 others 6 Link to comment
bowl_out
Lot of respect for Vihari But why is he batting left handed? Wouldn't it be easier to bat right handed even if it means with one hand? Isn't the bottom hand more important to generate power? Link to comment

So if he bats right handed, the left hand will face bowler and more prone to being hit. Link to comment
Texan
Still should be nowhere near the Indian team. He had a disappointing FC season and also was exposed during his international career. Link to comment
