Fake IPL to defraud Raashyan gamblers - hilarious

Labourers masquerading as cricket players, clever camera angles and fake team names were all part of an elaborate hoax cricket league in western India shown on YouTube that was used to draw money from gamblers in *Russia*, police said on Monday.
Fashioned along the lines of the popular Indian Premier League, a group of men in the western Indian state of Gujarat hired a field, set up cameras and asked local labourers to dress up in team uniforms and play cricket.

 

Am having a tough time feeling sorry for the people who were gambling on this. If anything, I feel bad that these clever  fraudsters were caught.

I think I have received a call from them about Bad IRS returns asking for my SSN

There are a few guys who pose as vulnerable old men and exposed them on youtube. They access their camera and show everyone in the room who was involved in scamming.

I was humoring him and he realized, he did a Kohli on me, called me Ben Stokes and hung up on me.

Yeah ... I suppose so, but this is as harmless as it comes. I mean ... the gamblers were, anyway, gambling their rubles away; this just accelerated their losses. 

 

I may be rationalizing, but to me, this feels different than calling elderly people and asking for their account/personal information so you can siphon money off them.
