Now Pant is not going to play BGT, we will not have someone who can be considered top 10. There is no one you can trust to hold the fort. Who will be the next Indian batsman who will dominate the attacks ?

Number Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 There is a big change in the way we used to draft in young batsmen from the times of Tendulkar to Kohli to what we do now a days. Tendulkar was a 16 yr old thrown in front of wolves. Kohli didn't have any FC record afaik, from U-19 to straight ODIs, from there he earned his Indian test cap. Now a days we play safe. No selector/coach/captain takes a brave call. You have to tick boxes at each level and in that process you turn 25-26. A team can win a game with batting or bowling or both. A team is formed based on the quality of talent available and then it focuses on the combination that can win it a game. nevada and Need4Speed 2

putrevus Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 Tendulkar was drafted to test side early but he forced his way into odis by performing in tests and then became an odi opener much later.Kohli also got drafted early in odis in 2008 , he kept performing in the format he was chosen it took 3 plus years to find a spot in test cricket. No player should be given free ride into all formats. I thought it would be Gill who will the next big thing but I just don't see him improving his game.

Unmukt Chand is prime example , he thought he arrived by just winning under 19 world cup. I still don't know which idiot told him it was okay for him to write a book.
