Everyone's favourite Sundar makes an entry into the Asia Cup squad.  Hopefully he delivers tomorrow(if he plays).

Yes, Sundar looks an apt choice for 15 man squad for Asia Cup and World Cup both. If you play both Jads and Axs then one of the two will always suffer in bowling. But Sundar provides a new dimension to the bowling and can be used as another bowling option or even as replacement of Jadeja.

 

Don't worry about his hitting skills. What is more important is can he provide that clutch finishing job( like a Mini- Bevan) at any of 5,6,7 or sometimes even at 8 (where you maybe 6 down at 150 odd chasing 240)?

Sundar is a good choice, provided he stays fit and don't breakdown in between.

 

Can bowl at powerplay so that's an advantage. Plus that will also give an option to drop Shardul and play all 3 spinners at 7,8,9

Sundar brings balance to this squad (atleast on paper). Can bowl in powerplay (if required) with decent numbers for a 5th/6th bowler, in limited ODI games he has played. Didnt realize he avg 66 with bat in test cricket.

Sundar has the potential to be a clutch batting all-rounder for India in ODIs and Tests. He has the technique and the temparament required for a top 4 batter. Much better against pace than Jadeja and can actually attack spinners with slog sweeps and even reverse sweeps. 

 

But this idiotic TM uses him as a bowler who bats a little at 8.

TM can be blamed partially.  But it is not TM's fault that Sundar spends 9 months per year in hospital due to injury/poor fitness. He needs to improve his fitness so that TM feels more confident about his utility.

If  a team has a bunch of lefties going in with 3 left arm spinners including Kuldeep is one way ticket to failure. We don't even have part timers like DDS, Maxwell, Markram.

They should keep a variety always. Be it is parag or Sundar. SL got away with 20 overs against us. Chacha almost won against SL with his part time off spin. Some times rough is more on one side

Axar's injury could be a blessing in disguise for us.  Hopefully, Sundar does well and remains fit all along the WC.  Coz his injury history is long.

Well it's not like Kuldeep is a leg spin bowler is it, wait

He has attained mythical legendary status. Jaddu was dropped after CT2017 for a reason. He didn't really do anything anywhere to stage a come back. He sneaked back purely based on kulcha slump.

It is always Axar vs Sundar, unless You-know-who get injured.
