Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli played their last T20I against Afghanistan in 2024 after the T20 World Cup 2022 which was played in Australia.

 

 

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, two stalwarts of Indian cricket, are reportedly set to retire from T20 internationals following their participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.

If not Kohli, at least Rohit didn't deserve to play another T20 for India after the poor show in the previous edition. Has done nothing in T20 WC since 2014.

Let's see if this happens. What is more likely is that Kohli will aggressively attack some of the people who suggest that he retires.

Why should either of them ODIs at all ?

 

We need to build a squad for the next World Cup.

Because we have an ICC tournament almost every year. 

 

Winning Champions Trophy be damned. It has to be a squad with a new look.

I simply can't go there. I will kick and scream when selections are announced, but when tourney starts, I will rue every India loss. All I can hope for is that we win the whole thing despite the ineptitude of the oldies; that guys like Jaiswal, SKY, Dube, Samson, Pant, Kuldeep, Bumrah, have a big hand in rescuing the team from the oldies' missteps.

They won't willingly retire, not when there is $$$ to be made.

This seems a carefully choreographed paid article to garner sympathy after the gutless selectors picked the old farts again.

 

And if they do vainly need a send off then organise a bilateral, seems ridiculous to hold hostage to their whims and sabotage the chance of a trophy at an international tournament.

After costing the team multiple tourneys, and playing 2 decades of impactless cricket, finally the bilateral kings will hang up their boots. This time don't think we'll even get to a semi-final.
