yes I remember the overconfidence on ICF and general public and thought it might go pear shaped.

Too many useless players in the squad - Ishan , Shardul, Ashwin, SKY, Jadeja as a #7, potentially Prasidh.  Australia had the superior squad with only 1 fraud in Marcus Stoinis 

 

Match was lost at the toss. 

 

We had luck in terms of toss decisions against OZ,  SA, ENG, PAK in group stages and semis against EnZed.

Brazilian football/soccer has the "Maracanazo" (the shock 2-1 loss to Uruguay in 1950 WC "Final") and the "Mineirazo (the 7-1 drubbing by Germany in 2014 WC SF). Nov 19 2023 was Indian cricket's "Moterazo".

Wow, it's been a year already! It hurt like hell but the pain was mitigated when we beat them at the T20WC. And a big thanks to the Afghans who sent them crashing out of the tournament!

So a terrible Pak,Eng would have beaten us if not for the toss and we would have not made the SFs,you are so quick to give your  verdicts

Vs SA ,Eden was a fair venue

Even the Afg vs Aus, Afghans nearly pulled it off despite that being a dewish Wankhede

The sf vs NZ was actually a tricky decision Wankhede is a belter and in current era of power batting no score is safe there we just scored above par and that was displayed that night

7-8/10 times same Indian xi would have pipped that Aus XI

Only Jadeja and the strange SKY looked bad to me

Kela did well before the WC in the Asia Cup and just played a nice cameo in the SF

 

I again repeat,last year defeat to that Aus side was pure humiliation,we should have won it comfortably

Our Test series loss to NZ was the biggest humiliation I ever witnessed. World Cup loss felt nothing compared to this.

 

World Cup final was just a one off match whereas in the series we were completely outplayed in 6 innings.

 

Rohit Sharma completely killed all the interest in Test cricket for me. He was the OG Kela who made a career out of bashing hapless Srilankan attacks for the most part of his career and is the worst Indian captain ever.

The entire 2023 WC had no emotion on me including the finals. Maybe its due to getting old but this final loss didn't hurt at all and I almost forgot it the next day. 

 

The last time I was heart broken on a cricket match was 2019 Semi finals against NZ.

Didn't affect me much tbh. I don't care about this format anyway, hope it dies soon

 

Most of the overconfidence was from the general public, people here were mostly grounded. I remember a thread on here about how Australia would win the WC

They were the *s who actually allowed Oz to get into their Super Saiyan mode, had their stupid cap or Mujeeb take that catch I bet Oz face us or NZ in the semis & crashed out! That near impossible win meant they did a 99 repeat :om:

We had such a great team man and just needed to chase 239. Then Eng was there for taking in the finals.

 

When that game got dragged into next day, the fact that India will not chase down 239 never came to my mind overnight and we all were planning for big final at Lords.

 

Then the dream came crashing down :sad:
