BCCI has reportedly offered MS Dhoni an all-format mentorship role, but he may decline while Gautam Gambhir is head coach due to past differences.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly offered an all-format mentorship job to decorated former captain MS Dhoni. However, as per the report by CricBlogger, he’s unlikely to take up the role until Gautam Gambhir is at the helm as the head coach in all three formats.

The report said it’s a ‘broad’ role, which will include the women’s and junior cricket teams to groom the upcoming stars in the country, as the board believes Dhoni could be influential there. The former skipper was apparently offered the job after his brief stint in the position during the 2021 T20 World Cup, but now, the BCCI has made another effort to get the Ranchi star on board.

The report added that Dhoni, though, wants to avoid any overlapping responsibilities with Gambhir due to their ‘history of differences dating back to their playing days’. Further, Dhoni is said to be more focused on preparing himself for the next season at Chennai Super Kings (CSK), which could likely be his last.

I wonder if they'll give the same treatment to Ashwin ? Or this entitlement is reserved for the batters only.

Batters only

Thala tony while being the most overrated T20 player in the planet has been asked to mental the T20 side which doesn't even need sub par consolidators at the top let alone some mediocrest guy boasting a 126 SR and giving them advices, only super paindu board has the ability to do this,if they have  it their way they may sleep walk Tony into the main xi mentaling the side by being glued behind the stumps

Only batters. Kumble never had sponsorships like even Dravid and Laxman had. Look at how Bumrah gets attacked so much from everywhere.

Bowlers are our secondary citizens.

We saw how well it worked out in 21 WT20.

That was hilarious... Dude probably wanted to hog all the limelight again (fresh after winning the IPL) by taking credit for the Indian team's performance as well but fate and Dewbai had other ideas. He didn't even come on camera once for the games against Pak and NZ. And then proceeded to silently depart back to his Ranchi farmhouse as if it never happened.

Was a PR disaster for Dhongi..
