Thought initially but Bichel had much higher ceiling, especially as a bowler, he could genuinely be a regular first change quick for many sides of his era. Apt comparison there will be Thakur, and to his credit, Lord has also punched above his weight and won us big games in tests. Another mentality monster and warrior for us. Lord Posted September 29, 2025 Posted September 29, 2025 Thinking aloud what if he was Pandu's replacement in WC 2023 instead of SKY. Might have benefitted us more Ultimate_Game, raki05 and vvvslaxman 1 2
AKane Posted September 29, 2025 Posted September 29, 2025 Dube can add a yard of pace to his bowling - with his height and action, he can be a very useful bowler.

Might have benefitted us more Tbh, need a perfect game to beat Aussies in WC KOs. Both RSA and India beat Aussies in group stages, but come KO time, Aussies took their game to the next level while RSA, Ind were more timid. Even in fielding you could see the difference in intensity the Aussies brought in both those games. Their rag tag team almost eliminated us in CT SF this year, despite all the advantages we got in that game (personnel, toss, freak run out of Carey).....Kohli, KL had to play their best ODI knocks in many years. We just have to admit that Aus is the final boss of ODI cricket, and will remain so even 20 years from now, they have mastered that format. They have won every 2nd WC till now, in every continent (SC, Aus, Eng, RSA, WI). Heck they have a better record than India in WCs hosted in India/SC....2 wins and a final appearance compared to our 1 win, 1 F. Edited September 29, 2025 by Gollum Lord 1

ravishingravi Posted September 30, 2025 Posted September 30, 2025 Just saw his batting. He looks more like a raw pakistani talunt than Indian talent that has come through the system. If it's not in his area, he has no strokes. Looks flat footed. Doesn't run well between wickets. Bowling wise nothing special. Infact when he is hitting, he doesn't look at the ball either. Surprised how he is backed by management. He was sent ahead of Rinku and Axar. Stars have worked out for GG. Otherwise India played it's C game with its B team.
Nikhil_cric Posted September 30, 2025 Posted September 30, 2025 Dube haters taken to the cleaners. Guy has literally bowled in the PP, out bowled Bumrah in 2 crucial games and played a clutch knock in the final , giving India much needed momentum , just like he did in the World T20 final. His bowling has definitely improved. Clocking upto 134 kph and hitting hard lengths with his 6'4" frame. raki05 and Stan AF 1 1

He clicked in world cup final, IPL final, AC final. We have this correct footed GIll choking every final. Between him and DUbe i would take DUbe every day raki05 1

Dube will go eventually. At what cost is the question. Opportunity cost of Indian selection decision is very high these days.
Gollum Posted September 30, 2025 Posted September 30, 2025 (edited) If Dube helps us win the T20 WC also, he will go down as a legend in my eyes. Like Axar, who helped us big time in previous 2 ICC title wins. Don't give that much importance to overall numbers in white ball cricket, ultimately it is what you do in the biggest stage that defines you. Cheeka was a run of the mill cricketer giving paindu vibes but he top scored in 83 final in overcast conditions, green pitch against Garner/Roberts/Holding/Marshall, the greatest bowling unit ever assembled. And followed it up with a matchwinning contribution against Pak in 85 B&H final (peak Imran in mid 80s was a nightmare for us) when Shastri was trying his best to lose from the other end. Vengsarkar was a much better batsman but who is remembered more today? Edited September 30, 2025 by Gollum vvvslaxman and Manucrick 2

Given the kind of pressure under which he had to play on both occasions, most seasoned players would have choked. The way smashed Jansen for six in the World Cup final really provided late-order acceleration.
tapandrun Posted September 30, 2025 Posted September 30, 2025 (edited) Ques to all :: If not Dube then who ?? , at no #5/6/7 team would required power more than technique. The only other player that comes to mind is Shashank who can access both sides , remains cool , can hit 6s from the crease. But thats all in IPL . Does Ind have time to try him ?? Yes dube does not have off-side game but what other option can some1 suggest ??? If people's observation was last match about off-side play, think Ind batters decided its not going to 4s if they play on off-side, big boundaries plus slow ground and no point in hitting in air ball will plug in. His inning at 200 SR was the reason we reached 176 in WT20 2024 Final while Kohli was tuk tuking all the way. raki05, Manucrick and Gollum 2 1
Gollum Posted January 24 Posted January 24 He is in the mould of some of our 1983 and '85 players. Not very talented but khadoos, humble, hard-working, clutch, overperformance. So much to learn from a man like Dube. tweaker, Frustrated, Manucrick and 1 other 1 3
