I don't feel that belongs in sport. Politics should stay aside. Sport is one thing, and it should be celebrated for what it is. It does put the sport, the players, the sportsmen, the cricketers in a very tough position, and that's what I hate to see. It was quite awkward there at the end," De Villiers noted

It’s a bit rich coming from a AB, a South African, given that South Africa were banned from international cricket due to Apartheid - also a political reason. The only way win international support is to systamtically expose Pak’s activities to the world - cricketing and otherwise in a big way. raki05 1
vvvslaxman Posted October 2, 2025 Posted October 2, 2025 Many have had the same view. EIther you play or don't play. Once you play don't do these half assed stunts because ruling party is pulling strings. It looked so artificial and staged. Wish our players were not dragged through this. Gollum Posted October 2, 2025 Posted October 2, 2025 No celeb, artist or sportsperson talks smack about China, because then CCP will deny them the world's biggest market. GOI, BCCI, Indians in general are softies. nitinbwj and raki05 2
Need4Speed Posted October 2, 2025 Posted October 2, 2025 if there is more PR about the statements and relationship of Naqvi with Munir and Pak govt..people would understand India's stance.. everything is about SM narrative these days..

Actually Pak players and Indian players on the woman side have cordial relationship. It will look super weird when they do that.

But Naqvi is political appointee and cousin of munir. Surya even handshake him at the opening ceremony then naqvi started tweets and BCCI thought enough is enough and said no handshakes with pak players. You are only looking at one point in time and not looking at the whole thing. Although I want BCCI to kick Pakistan out of ACC and host tourney without them. raki05 and rollingstoned 1 1

BCCI asked Surya to start that drama when they realized the pulse during the first match. Prior to that they took things for granted and unable to appreciate the fact that a section of fans are not only disappointed but absolutely against this tournament at this time with all the commercial attempt to milk Indo Pak match at the behest of BCCI and certified by GOI. When they realized that there will be huge backlash , they started putting all this drama and ask cricketers to play along. But as I said earlier it is now clear than ever that BCCI people only care about money and their influence. For that just like Pakistani establishment they will sell their mothers, wives and daughters in the bazaar if they have to as long as they get more money and make them feel important. They care zero for the country and the emotion of its people, instead will like to milk it to inflate their profit statement by deliberately scheduling Indo Pak matches.
goose Posted October 2, 2025 Posted October 2, 2025 (edited) modi-shah-gambhir between them got it badly wrong. if world opinion doesnt matter why haave we sent hiuge delegations arounsd the world trying to change it? for decades our cricketers have pretended to get on, some more than others. that's the only sustainable stance. the govt should not be using our crickeyters like this. all it does is lend credence to two societies, two countries that hate each other. and while some here might want that, the aim must be to show an india that hates terrorism and institutions that harbour them. nobody is going to believe you if want to say anything and everyone in pakistan is a terrorist. and that's what india asia cup stance tried to do. should not have played them. the asia cup was a gilt edged chance to withdraw from a comp Edited October 2, 2025 by goose Lone Wolf and Lord 1 1

I am only looking at cricketing perspective. Most of the guys like ABDV will look only from that perspective. If you set your mind not shaking your hands from the beginning like Scotland did with Lamichhane while he was facing rape charges that is a different thing. You shake hands. Then after a day or two you take a stance and don't shake hands then trivializing deaths by dedicating the win to victims. It looks ugly. It is comical when he shakes hands with musthaq ahmed spin coach of BD team. He is a pakistani too. What is the purpose of this stance? Seriously? Zero_Unit and Cricketics 2

If they need to be separate, then why the hell is an active Pakistani minister the head of ACC? If it was a neutral person or an ex-cricketer, the issue wouldn't have even come up

From a cricketing perspective, host board was BCCI and it can invite anyone to present the trophy .. why ACC president ? BCCI should not have invited him over or did he thrust himself onto the podium

Bigg Brother Posted October 3, 2025 Posted October 3, 2025 He isn't wrong either. Who moves Home Asia Cup to neutral venue and then such Rona dhona and no handshake saga. What did they actually achieve by doing such things. Atleast Pakistani are firm in their "begging stand and playing India any cost" while BCCI is all talk and no show. It all started when you agreed to play outside the decided venue. Iman bech aaye chutye just for 3 matches bilateral series with minnow country for money.. New guy and Zero_Unit 2

By AB's logic, India should invite Pakistan and regularly tour Pakistan for cricket in all three formats. Why restrict it to Asia Cup only if sports and politics should not mix? In fact, why isolate Russia if sports and politics should not mix? Dont their athletes feel awkward? (Uncle Sam ke dande se sab darte hain) Edited October 3, 2025 by MechEng
