That's the biggest fear. Somehow they manage to eke out a few runs and we carry them for a few more series and then the selectors say it's "too late" to make changes for the 2027 ODI WC and we're stuck with the oldies. And in the WC every team has their full strength squad so no more B grade bowlers to feast on and they struggle leaving India high and dry despite being one of the favorites Really hope selectors had a detailed discussion with them and told them that this is their farewell. You gotta give time to youngsters to settle in and also to the new captain to build his team. With Jaiswal, Sai, Rinku Tilak, and to a lesser extent Abhishek in the mix we've a problem of plenty. We'll need time and a number of matches for the new batters to nail down their spots. Already we've limited amount of ODIs so how'll we finalize our WC squad if the oldies don't leave now And this is where our selection committee, especially Agarkar has failed us and Indian cricket. He should be the one paving the way for youngsters and making sure we've a settled team for 2027 WC. But he's way too weak and shies away from making hard decisions. Bowling was horsseeesshhitt at that time. No point blaming these two. I remember bumrah then made his debut in the T20Is that followed. Lord 1
Sooda Posted October 19, 2025 Posted October 19, 2025 The truth is they both are good enough for now in ODIs, Virat especially but Rohit too to a lesser extent. He will give us those explosive starts. It's just that we need to build for 2027. They - certainly Rohit - will not be good enough then Manucrick and New guy 2

May be they have some cricket left in them. The issues is Ind is taking 2 batters who play in top who are 35+ and nearing 40if they lose form or fitness Ind will have hard time finding the replacements. In case rohit fails Ind will go to Jaiswal and Kolhi fails it will have to bring Iyer 1 spot up, though Iyer has improved his game vs short balls but will a team risk him at no. 3, if yes then still they will have no one with exp or quality to play #4 meaning KL will move 1 place up and Ind will add some1 at #5. Which is a bad scenario, having KL #4 not sure when and where he loses it.
jf1gp_1 Posted October 19, 2025 Posted October 19, 2025 Switched on. All i heard was dick sucking of Rohit and Virat. Prayed these two got a grand total of six ducks and switched off. New guy 1

If we are playing all of Rohit, Kohli, Iyer and KL with Jaiswal the only player in reserves that means we have serious dearth of talent. None of those 4 should be anywhere close to one day squad as they have failed to create any impact or synergy in this format. Along with Jaiswal there has to be atleast 4-6 more world class batters that should be now groomed in. Edited October 19, 2025 by RajBan

putrevus Posted October 19, 2025 Posted October 19, 2025 So again it proved in this match , if they don't score , other useless bozos in the team cannot do anything. If they fail, India loses and that has been their story in their career. They have been saddled with an ace bowler who always comes up short in big matches and useless supporting cast who never seem to raise their level.
Gollum Posted October 19, 2025 Posted October 19, 2025 How will they manage if they are unwilling to play domestics? We hardly play 10 ODIs per year, and then IPL....not enough to keep 38 year olds sharp. putrevus 1
