vvvslaxman Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Instead of 66(107) it would have been 66(106) that is my best guess Manucrick 1
vvvslaxman Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Pandya's injury put us in awkward position of cannot afford a collapse at the top. We had who? Shami, Siraj, Booms, Kuldeep. Batting literally stops at 7. At no.6 Jaddu lol .Essentially our top was needed to occupy the entire 50 overs as Jadeja cannot finish big. Ultimate_Game 1

Number Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Needed someone like Sanju in place of KL who could hit boundaries against spinners at will. He wouldn't have allowed Zampa and Maxwell to get away with those cheap overs. nevada and Manucrick 2
Laaloo Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Our middle order still struggled yesterday. It was dubes knock after the dropped catch that made a big difference. We needed jadeja to do the same in 2023 but he was useless as usual. Pandya was a big miss as well. Manucrick 1
Bigg Brother Posted March 10 Posted March 10 More than Rohits, Iyer's wicket was game changer. Had he stayed with Kohli for even 10 overs we would have scored more. Him getting out on 4 was curtains on that day. Surya was as useless as ever one can be. Raina bailed us out in 2011 in similar situations. Still can't forget Surya trying to scoop slower ones and cutters and failing miserably. Probably the worst selection ever. nevada, Manucrick, Laaloo and 1 other 4

Got THE opportunity of his life and played like a tail-ender! Vk1 and Manucrick 2

Feel the fault was of the people who selected him in ODIs on the basis of T20 form. There was ample evidence that he wasn't cut for any format other than T20 by his form prior to world cup.

The hope was that he would play a blazing knock out of nowhere to win a game or two for us, hopefully in the later stages of the tournament. Just do his thing, score a 60(40) or 70(40) and take the game away from the opposition isn't too much to expect, despite the difference in format!

I was reading the thread about India's squad announcement on 2023 wc on reddit and almost everyone was calling out Sky's inclusion asking for Sanju Samson's inclusion that day. Even Axar for Ashwin would have made sense. Ashwin was useless selection as well.
zen Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Black soil pitch was said to be chosen by captain (Rohit) and coach (Dravid), believing that it would give advantage to India while banking on Aus to bat first - following its usual batting first strategy in high pressure games. What sports teaches us is to be graceful in victory, generous in loss, and be sporting. No amount of “what if” scenarios are going to change anything. Even WI could say “what if” X or Y had played more sensibly in 1983, which the WI lost chasing only 183. nevada, Norman and Laaloo 1 2
Stan AF Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Get over the 2023 final. Infact I'm thankful for that loss. Frustrated 1
G_B_ Posted March 10 Posted March 10 As i said india were 80/1 in 10. This should have been 300. Onus on us not pitch Lord and Laaloo 1 1

Nikhil_cric Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Yes, we would have. Pitch wouldn't have eased out after 10 overs in the 2nd innings. And even if Australia batted first, we could've chased it down
maniac Posted March 10 Posted March 10 We played like phattus that day and Aussies sniffed blood and showed clutch temperament. Eve if we had played in Nagpur minefield with 4 spinners, we would have lost that final. Bigg Brother, Laaloo and Lord 3

Our Men team has already won 3 ICC titles after that WC. And Women 1 title. Total 4 titles. It's time to focus on maintaining the winning run for the future. Stan AF 1
