Ultimate_Game Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Meri khwahish hai ki Rahane and Tripathi open the innings with Pandey coming in at 3 nevada, tweaker, Manucrick and 3 others 1 5
BacktoCricaddict Posted April 2 Posted April 2 (edited) IPL is showing "founder" effects, wherein established names simply stick forever and stand in the way of youngsters. When these oldies were first selected, they were young, but so was the IPL, and there were no oldies to keep them away. But now ... different story. vvvslaxman Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Pandey has sofar not hurt them badly. But Rahane sure has broke down the 2014 ceiling. But he is still behind 2026 ceiling for an aggressive opener. Making him captain is even worse as he is now undroppable. Bit like Pant. But atleast he keeps

Rahane was in the same boat as Pujara at one point. Credit to him for improving. INfact lot of youngsters should learn that attitude from Rahane. But even with his new found aggressive mindset there is a limit what he can do. So he should focus on limitating the damage he does to his team starting with demoting himself down. At least Pant has proven with his performances in the past that he could potentially play a match turning innings. But Rahane is meant for 150-170 type of chases who keeps one end up. Those days are gone and there's no place for Rahane. This is like Salman Agha captaining Pak in T20s! Rahane is only fit for Tests and I would rather look for youngsters who can score quickly than continue with a has been who was never good enough even in his prime! New guy 1

He was able to change his game because he has retired from tests and now is wrking on t20 style of batting, sending caution to the winds. He is playing everything in the air and targeting the leg-side hoping it crosses the boundaries, it works well in pp or vs pace once that is gone its hard to hit. ipl is now about hitting and keep hitting. Has he improved his t20 game, yes by lot can others do that same yes but it requires focusing on 1 format. has this been done in the past yes-- Sky,tripathi, jitesh like players didi it because they knew doors to Ind cap were closed to them they started working much more on t20 game, they do not have much power game but added shots that Ind batter do nt play often-- sweep, reverse, ramp.etc.. deepdynamo Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Even Narine is past his sell out date. Last year, Russell played on nostalgic quota.
zen Posted April 3 Posted April 3 First, fans need to realize that 10 teams are competing for players. IPL teams don’t select like BCCI where every player is available. Hardly any team has its 100% preferred squad. Many times a squad is built through constant changes during an auction. Second, teams value all kind of players - experienced and talented. At times, teams want relatively proven capability as well esp. of handling good bowling attacks. Teams are not looking to build an under 19 squad to groom players for India. Third, teams don’t win based on squad strength but based on form of players. A team can have a powerful squad on paper but if the players struggle, it will not perform well. The higher number of players in “sustainable” form translates to higher chances of winning a tournament. And knowing current form of players is a lottery as squads are assembled months in advance.

He avgs even less than 40, how can he be fit for Tests ? Despite playing for years at comfortable no 5, he has very little to show. Washington Sundar if he bats for 80 odd tests at no 5 will have more memorable performances than him. He is the KL Rahul of Indian MO, luckily survived all the backlash due to that 2020/21 BGT. bowl_out Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Rahane is still fine. Who in their right mind would select Tripathi after his CSK stint

Rahane is one of the better Test captains and the way he led the young Indian team in BGT 2020-21 and the final deciding Test against Aussies in 2017 was outstanding. In Tests his leadership is what puts him in the team and not as a pure batter.
Vk1 Posted April 3 Posted April 3 pls don't keep anyone near the GOAT Pandeyji. He is by far the worst cricketer to play size able games for Indian team

maniac Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Seeing how poor some of the young Indian domestic fielders are barring 1-2 exceptions; these 3 are worth on their fielding alone lol. Yes they are useless.
