Texan Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 Some serious brain farts from Saha in the last Test vs England. First, so many missed chances and then while batting on the last day when we needed to play for time, he comes out in T20 mode and drives on the up back to the bowler. Pant is currently in the form of his life. I have always believed in picking players when they are in form. So, should Pant replace Saha? tweaker 1
G_B_ Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 Look he chipped in with a very handy 35 in the first innings and has played some match saving/winning innings v WI and NZ yes he has had issues in the last test with the gloves but give him another chance.
Shunya Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 He should continue for an year or so...but we definitely should have a replacement ready... I have a feeling this whole team is trying to show this fake aggressive intent which is resulting into such brainfarts...I hope Kohli and Co calm down a bit and understand and play more tactically depending on the conditions and situation of the match... No need to turn the team into Afridi like morons...
fineleg Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 (edited) Well, Saha (in his early Tests) has shown the propensity to "over attack" as a batsman and play some brainfart shots. But he has also recently done well in Tests, so they will continue with him for a couple of series to give him chances. When under pressure (batting) - he tries the hit-out mode which doesnt work too well against good quality Intl sides. Edited November 13, 2016 by fineleg
Ankit_sharma03 Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 Everybody is allowed to have a bad game he has been good till now do u guarantee pant will come good, looking at his exposure the chances are very less. Such chances are taken when there is no option like in case of Pandya For time being Saha is good express bowling and Mosher 2
Malcolm Merlyn Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 Pant is the future. He is in hot form.He needs to be given a chance in the home season. We shouldnot choose a 20 year old and make him debut in SA. SecondSlip 1
Mosher Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 Pant is in great form with the bat but he has a long way to go as far keeping is concerned. Keeping to spinners on turning pitches is no joke. But he should surely be tried for LOI's. Saha has done well with the bat down the order. He has played some gritty knocks under pressure. His keeping has been solid except for this match. No reason to panic. Bystander and express bowling 2
jf1gp_1 Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 Give me one reason why Saha shouldnt be in our test squad ? Saha has done everything expected of him and then some more. Pant is 19 should play domestic cricket for couple of more years, then should start featuring in A team. Mosher, sandeep and BCCI 3
gattaca Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 Should we drop every player if they don't perform poorly in an innings ? Give him sometime he did good against nz. sandeep, express bowling and Mosher 3
rkt.india Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 Too early for Pant in test cricket. He needs at least 2-3 seasons of FC cricket before playing tests. He can for sure be tried in T20 sand ODIs when there is no FC cricekt going on. Saha has not done well since SL tour. Anyone can play a bad shot. I remember Dhoni doing Afridi to Shaun Udal against England in 2006. sandeep and Mosher 2
express bowling Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 (edited) Has anyone of us here seen Pant keeping in FC matches ? Has anyone of us here seen Pant bat in a FC match ? Unless they have gone to the ground for Ranji matches, it is not possible as they were not televised. How are some people deciding that Pant is a keeper good enough for test matches without ever seeing him ? Edited November 14, 2016 by express bowling Mosher and sandeep 2
philcric Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 Saha is doing alright in test cricket. Not spectacular but good enough. So this is not a question of dropping Saha because of his performance. It's about Pant, the guy is in spectacular form, has different set of skills than others (WK bat, high SR). It's figuring out how to get the best out of him for the team and also the team's requirements. One way to do is blood an exceptional talent early and see if he can adapt to international cricket, with a clear understanding between selectors and the player that should he fail it will not be held against him in the long run and he can always go back to domestics and can make a comeback to the national team later as a better player. If he succeeds, nothing like it. Definitely play him in T20s as a Wk-Bat or as an opener just as a batter. Play him in a few less significant ODIs to start with and see how he goes. Mosher 1
express bowling Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 (edited) Pant needs to be introduced in LOIs first ....as a pure batsman batting at No.5.....after the Ranji season is over. Thankfully, it will be over when the 2 LOI series against England begin. Edited November 14, 2016 by express bowling
mishra Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 Pant may be in last match if we have got unassailable lead. Allthough not happy with Saha's keeping, Right now no need to change.
tweaker Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 Pant should play 2 full season of domestic cricket ,then some A tours ,then he should be considered express bowling and mishra 2
fineleg Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 A couple of A-tours as wk-bat needed first.
maniac Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 Saha deserves more chances...has been safe with the gloves so far..Let us give him the benefit of the doubt for having an off day/week. batting should be a 2nd criteria even though I don't rate Saha's ability against international bowling highly,he has been adequate. As far as Pant goes...should be in LOI's especially T20's like right now,at this moment. Mosher and tweaker 2
sandeep Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 There's a kid who keeps wicket for Dadar colony. Best batting prospect since SRT. Just scored 4 100s back to back. I think he should be in the poll. kruiser and Vilander 2
