this board seems intent on dismantling a side that has just won a bunch of test matches, very odd.

jayant looks hell of a good bat to avg a mere 28 in domestics to be honest.

I had same thought. Saw him batting confidently thought he must average 40 plus in domestics.

I'm okay with Jadeja's bowling but it's annoying to see him bat when he's rated as an all-rounder.Useless hack with the bat.

jadeja and its easy choice. Jadeja may not be a big turner of the ball but his metronomic accuracy helps build pressure on the other end, which often benefits Ashwin. 

Jadeja complements Ashwin's bowling really well and unless his accuracy drops, he should be in the team.

That could mean Eng have not bowled to him properly, or he is unknown to them at this point.

rkt keeps reminding that its the Lahli effect for his low batting avg. Lahli has very low totals.

Both are not big spinners of the ball but jadejas batting is utter thrash.I like what I have seen from jayant.

What are you guys talking about? Having two off spinners in the side is not good. Need variety. Jaddu should stay until we find a good leg spinner.

Ashwin and Jadeja are our first choice spinners .

Jayant has done enough to suggest that he can be a decent third option .

His batting looks decent and encouraging so should play him at no.7 ahead of Saha .

Jayant's wicket celebrations look silly. So I will opt for Jadeja as he's more stylish and has that X-factor.

Moreover, i would prefer a wrist spinner ahead of jayant as the third option.....(may be K.yadav or Y.chahal). Not that jayant has done bad but india will have better variety.

^ Yes both offspinners is the reason why JY cannot be the "2nd spinner" when Ash is playing.

Jesus christ, this place is so kneejerk at times. Jayant has peformed well in one test match, how can you even advocate picking him above someone like Jadeja who's been a monster in Indian conditions so far in his career. Not only that, he's a perfect foil for Ashwin. When both of them are bowling in tandem, Ashwin knows he can try and give the ball a lot of flight because one end is going to be completely tied up in terms of runs scored. 

 

Jayant is a good find and has probably taken Mishra's place for now, but give it a rest. Let him play more than one test and see how it goes.

Who edges out the other if one of them has to miss the playing 11.

Both are decent fielders (Jadeja better in outfield).

Variety is indeed important and Jaddu showed some much-needed sense with the bat.
