goose Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 this board seems intent on dismantling a side that has just won a bunch of test matches, very odd. sandeep 1
G_B_ Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 jayant looks hell of a good bat to avg a mere 28 in domestics to be honest. I had same thought. Saw him batting confidently thought he must average 40 plus in domestics. Sent from my Wileyfox Swift using Tapatalk
ShebbySB Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 I'm okay with Jadeja's bowling but it's annoying to see him bat when he's rated as an all-rounder.Useless hack with the bat.
Muloghonto Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 jadeja and its easy choice. Jadeja may not be a big turner of the ball but his metronomic accuracy helps build pressure on the other end, which often benefits Ashwin. Jadeja complements Ashwin's bowling really well and unless his accuracy drops, he should be in the team. G_B_ 1

fineleg Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 rkt keeps reminding that its the Lahli effect for his low batting avg. Lahli has very low totals.

cowboysfan Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 Both are not big spinners of the ball but jadejas batting is utter thrash.I like what I have seen from jayant.
gattaca Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 What are you guys talking about? Having two off spinners in the side is not good. Need variety. Jaddu should stay until we find a good leg spinner. tweaker 1
BeautifulGame Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 Absurd thread this . Ashwin and Jadeja are our first choice spinners . Jayant has done enough to suggest that he can be a decent third option . His batting looks decent and encouraging so should play him at no.7 ahead of Saha . tweaker 1

Texan Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 Why would you pick two offspinners if you had to only pick two spinners?
Lannister Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 Jayant's wicket celebrations look silly. So I will opt for Jadeja as he's more stylish and has that X-factor. tweaker 1
gakgupta Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 hmmmm...weird thread... why would have want 2 off-spinners..... Moreover, i would prefer a wrist spinner ahead of jayant as the third option.....(may be K.yadav or Y.chahal). Not that jayant has done bad but india will have better variety.
fineleg Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 ^ Yes both offspinners is the reason why JY cannot be the "2nd spinner" when Ash is playing.
Unleashed Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 Jesus christ, this place is so kneejerk at times. Jayant has peformed well in one test match, how can you even advocate picking him above someone like Jadeja who's been a monster in Indian conditions so far in his career. Not only that, he's a perfect foil for Ashwin. When both of them are bowling in tandem, Ashwin knows he can try and give the ball a lot of flight because one end is going to be completely tied up in terms of runs scored. Jayant is a good find and has probably taken Mishra's place for now, but give it a rest. Let him play more than one test and see how it goes. philcric, tweaker and Mosher 3

He did this against both the seamers and spinners...against pitched up deliveries and against short balls. He can be groomed to be a No. 6 batsman even. Vijay, Rahul, Pujara, Kohli, Rahane, Ashwin, Saha and Shami forming the core test team in all conditions. Pandya or Jayant...depending on the pitch...as the batting all-rounder / 5th bowler. Replacing Jadeja with Ishant outside Asia. Umesh or Bhuvi depending on whether there is swing in the air or not. Trying to bring a wrist spinner in the mix in place of Jadeja on flat tracks. Seems an organized batsman. If he and both Bhuvi were there, I'd feel more comfy about lower order instead of slashers and flashers like Jaddu (and Saha can look very jittery at times).
fineleg Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 Healthy internal competition - Ravindra Jadeja vs Jayant Yadav Who edges out the other if one of them has to miss the playing 11. Both are decent fielders (Jadeja better in outfield).
Cricketics Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 Jadeja plays first choice for me for being the left arm spinner. We need variety so he should be playing ahead of Jayant. 3 minutes ago, fineleg said: Healthy internal competition - Ravindra Jadeja vs Jayant Yadav Who edges out the other if one of them has to miss the playing 11.
