G_B_ Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 No too ways about it. While the batting has too many flaws to talk about. I would suggest maybe giving Bumrah a rest. India have been pumped around all the limited overs matches.
BeautifulGame Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 And deservedly so. 3-0 whitewash on the cards.Have we ever been whited at home in any format before?
WeStMiDz Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Contrast between the two teams is quite staggering. India can only compete (with this crop of players) when Kohli bats through the innings. G_B_ and tower 2
BCCI Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 (edited) You need six hitters in T20 cricket.Yet again like WT20 SF we were outsixed. All we have are ageing MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh.I was excited about Pandya when I saw him in the IPL first time but he is a phoney. And not to forget Rohit "when he gets set" Sharma. Kudos to Virat for single handedly carrying this team in T20s for last year or so. Edited January 26, 2017 by BCCI AuxiliA 1
Cricketics Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Just poor batting and contrary to people suggesting that India lost because we had lack of firepower, India lost because 3 of our bats did not bat with common sense and should be dropped and the order should be changed. I am talking about Yuvi, Pandey and Rahul. We did not miss any firepower, but we missed some simple common sense batting as that is what would have taken us past 175+ today. Funny thing is that Kohli played and showed the world how to play twenty20 cricket by displaying same style in 2020 world cup and then in IPL without hitting and just rotating and later picking up the runnrate. His that approach almost won us the t20 world cup and also almost won RCB the IPL and yet people forget that and after one poor performance of the team people are reduced to saying in match thread that we lack fire power for twenty20 side when the real reason for our poor batting is that we did not show any common sense while batting today as showing it would have taken India to 175+. Some people who just talk about lack of fire power need to go watch twenty20s from last year. More than fire power, India just sucked at playing fast bowling. That is what was the difference today. Yuvi, Rahul, Pandey getting out cheaply instead of rotating and scoring odd boundaries is why we got such a poor total today, and not because of lack of fire power. There was no common sense batting today from 3 players out of six. We need to repalce these guys. Get Pant to Open. And bat smart. Not SLOG only. Bat Smart.
rkt.india Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 it is collective batting failure, unfair to blame individuals. tower and Mosher 2
G_B_ Posted January 26, 2017 Author Posted January 26, 2017 We were 76/2 should have reached 160 as a minimum from that point to make it even a match of it. Would probably have still lost.
Vilander Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 people predicting 3-0 thumped etc, i thought the series was finished already lol. its just a t20 anybody can win any day. thats the fun in the format. Indians will do well next game.
The Realist Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Cricinfo: Ashish Kumar: "Worst performance from Team India in long time. Can't see where this team is going? In T20 you must have young blood. Can't keep players who want to secure their place by playing a moderate innings. You must go with all guns blazing on this kind of flat track." WeStMiDz Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Most people would say Kohli's biggest test as Indian captain is to win overseas in test matches. I disagree. I think his biggest test is to transform this T20 team to enable us to compete with the likes of England and WI.
BCCI Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 (edited) Team and order should: Pant or anyone with the mindset of going from ball one Kohli Raina/Rohit once he come Dhoni(should be told to try hit out ,if not gtfo, need 10 ball 25 runs innings from him,if he scores more at the same tempo even better but who will bell the cat) Yuvraj(same as above) Pandya bowlers But the above mentioned will not happen.Should have selected Kuldeep in this series though.Whats the point of playing Parvez? King Tendulkar Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Not bothered if we win or lose that much in t20 but fun but selection was atrocious . No vision or future planning for india . We had dhoni and yuvraj and nehra . What on earth do we gain by playing them in this format ? great chance to play some young players on fringes of selection . We know the names . No need for oaps to get a run out . zonal picks going on . Chance for some to advertise their worth for ipl £££ . rahulrulezz, G_B_, raki05 and 1 other 4

They might struggle for a while but you know they will get better and we reap benefits in year or so in all formats . Nothing to be gain from oaps playing, even if oaps do well in t20s nothing gained

One player like Kohli can afford to play through the innings but others need to be good strikers of the ball and play around Kohli. Cant have too many players tuk tuking. Game has moved on from that kind of approach. express bowling 1

No one needs to bat like Chris Lynn every time. Just play their natural game. All of them are more than capable of batting with a higher strike rate with their natural game. Even Rahul can though he has been sucking a lot off late and has been a bane. kosingh 1
Gambit Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 MSD needs to watch videos of his 183*. This isn't what I expected at all when we were told that he will bat freely etc now. He has been a mediocre T20 batsman but given he will be selected, he needs to go hard from ball 1 and not 20 off 20 and then launch strategy. cowboysfan, rkt.india, Laaloo and 1 other 4

Posted it in the match thread. heavy balls bowled back of a length at pace will keep Indian bats quiet. Known Tactic for a while now. That's one of the reasons why Yuvi is back - if he is good nick, he is one of the few who can punish that length. Pandya failed with the bat today. So did KLR. Pandey was playing in the wrong format. Rasool doesn't belong at this level. VK had an off day. Dhoni is not the guy he was 8 years ago. End result? 40 runs short. No sense blaming it ALL on one guy. Dhoni is still serviceable - as he was today. He didn't prevent KLR or Manish or Hardik from batting well. Nor did he bench Rishabh. VK's brilliance has been covering up our batting shittiness for quite some time. Good that its getting exposed. kosingh 1
