vvvslaxman
http://www.bbc.com/sport/cricket/43072621 India fast bowler Ishant Sharma will join Sussex for the first two months of the English county season. The 29-year-old has taken 234 wickets in 81 Test matches, and has also played 80 one-day internationals and 14 T20s for his country. The right-armer will be available for five games in the County Championship, and all eight of Sussex's group stage fixtures in the One-Day Cup. "I am looking forward to my maiden stint in county cricket," he said. Only three Indian seamers have taken more wickets than Sharma in Test cricket, with his 234 dismissals making him the ninth-most prolific Indian Test bowler overall. Sussex were looking to bring in another fast bowler after Chris Jordan and Jofra Archer signed deals to play in the Indian Premier League. "Securing Ishant's services has been very important for us," Sussex director of cricket Keith Greenfield said. "It became crucial to sign an experienced international-quality seam bowler who could provide valuable support and know-how to the rest of the seamers." sarcastic 1 Link to comment

sandeep
This is awesome news. I expect Ishant to learn a lot, at a minimum. And a 60% chance of him really running through some of those county lineups. sarcastic and LORD_analyst 2 Link to comment
sarcastic
This is an excellent excellent news for team India. Ishant Sharma would be very acclimatized and may learn few tricks of trade on those English pitches and can be potent in the India's long test tour of England. Hatsoff to everyone involved in this decision!!! Sean Bradley 1 Link to comment
vvvslaxman
It is somewhat forced. Nobody picked him in the IPL like nobody picked Pujara. May be a blessing in disguise. I never recall Ishant doing anything useful in the IPL (hehe Maniac) except when he briefly did well with Dale Steyn. beetle and sandeep 2 Link to comment

The Realist
2nd division county level is about his standard. Not sure what Sussex are getting out of this as mediocre seamers like Sharma are dime a dozen in county cricket. Rightarmfast and adi B 1 1 Link to comment
Unstable Joe
Feeling sorry for poor Sussex. Oh well, if he learns something, it will be good for team India, though I doubt it. Link to comment

Pollack
To be blunt, Ishant sharma is a sh!T bowler and would remain so. You gotta have talent and brain. Ishant has none. Admire the fact he is mostly fit and seems to be honest tryer. Unfortunately he is not good enough. Link to comment

He's going to be playing against 2nd tier batsmen, and the conditions will be helpful. He has height, gets bounce and has enough pace - IF he learns to bowl according to the conditions, he should be effective. Then again, this is Ishant we are talking about. To make a 70s phillum analogy, some people are just cut out to be Shashi Kapoor, not everybody can be Amitabh. No matter how tall or short you are. Link to comment

For the times when Shami pulls up lame. There's some value in having an experienced pacer who can do the dirty job of bowling a ton of tight overs to maintain pressure. Link to comment
