Virat Kohli: "In terms of team balance, we are sorted in our head. This we feel is our most balanced side."

Recommended Posts

"Would have batted first as well. Hopefully it doesn't break down so much. Hopefully there's dew later. This is a knockout game for us. Everyone is pumped up," Virat Kohli says. "We are one of the best chasing teams in the world. We have to show that today. [Do you know your World Cup combination now?]Pretty much. The last two games didn't go our way but it's not like we haven't been doing well overall. In terms of team balance, we are sorted it our head. We aren't unbeatable. But so long as we can learn from our losses, we're okay. Chahal misses out, Jadeja comes in, Rahul misses out Shami has been added. We bat till 8 with Bhuvi in. This we feel is our most balanced side."

So Vijay Shankar will be our No. 4 going into the World Cup?

Kedhar Jadhav and Jadeja in the team, and the team is balanced? How corrupt can you get. Why are we not playing genuine batsmen, when there are more than one pure batsmen waiting? This is a recipe for disaster. This Bunty sajdeh... ma&*%#$d

Going with 5 specialist bowlers is his style. Relying on pacers is his style. Well this style doesnt work in limited overs

His captaincy or lack of got exposed in this series

Never ever go by what Kohli or Shastri say. They say things for the sake of it.

Kihli said Rahane will be no. 4, idea was dropped after 2 series

Said Rayudu was the confirmed no. 4, Rayudu is not in the team

SHastri said Rohiy/Dhawan will get rested rotated, hardly done.

also said rahul is best option for no.4 , gave him one game at no.4 dropped

Also said yuvraj is best option

When DK was bought back he was said to be best option for no4 by kohli

kohli is a captain who always believes grass is greener on other side and ends up being Dhoni ka kutta - na ghar ka na ghat ka

People need to get real, it is not captaincy which is at fault. Most players including captain himself have just one skill. Teams like Indian team will always struggle to get that balance right.

Let me put it simple. Batting was definitely easy in initial overs and thats why both sides would have wanted to bat first. So thats only saving grace.

Wait till you get personally attacked by a few overly optimistic posters who believe Kohli-Shastri is the best combo ever happened to Indian cricket. They'd argue how Kohli won almost 2/3rd of matches under his captaincy which is on record. All selection botch-ups by aggressive Kaptaan gaya tel lene.

about kohli winning- look at how teams have regressed in world cricket apart form 1-2 and look at the number of match winners we have now.....if not winning what else cud have happened . Rohit also won team games without kohli

Actually a few think that if we somehow win all our league matches (like 2015 WC campaign) but unfortunately get beaten in semis/final of ICC tourney, then still it is a successful campaign. As if we're effing NZ to find solace in going as far as we could. Despite having the tools in our inventory to succeed in big tournaments we've underperformed consistently during key moments.

Kohli is too stubborn imo, only a miracle ala Warnie/Gilly type performance in the knockouts(if we reach) could help us otherwise it is doomed scenario.

Good, hope this beings down the expectations as we eventually might crash out before the SF & the WC format isn't even brutal like 2007  :cantstop:

Good overall, expectations low better for Ind

2015 was still a young side , this isnt that young a side and the bowling quality n all rounder is an advantage now

Pandya for all his flaws is still vital for the ODI team.  Shankar or Jadhav aren't good enough as the 5th bowler and Jadeja is not a no7 batsman. Plus without Pandya the lower order lacks fire power.

Jadhav is not the worst. Not like we have Yuvraj waiting to replace him. He has done decent. Continued persistence with Rayudu, karthik and Dhoni ensured Pant, Shankar and other inexperienced rookies getting no chance and no international level exposure. Now they can blame Rookies not being good enough and justify playing Dhoni and his pals.

This is a team that has had a decent run but has now run out of gas. Besides, their minds are on the IPL. Also, this was a good reality check. Showed us that everyone needs to be in form at the same time for us to win the World Cup.

Of all things, he first needs to behave like a mature individual. As an opposition captain, I will laugh at his antics.

He does that but at the same time he has the most PR-friendly comments in the post-match interviews and press conferences so it's a weird dynamic.

ohh...yes  ..... this team  who surrendered to Zampa of all people  is the most balanced one Mr: Kohli ...... Never in my dreams did  I think

this 5'3  or perhaps  5'4 tall  average spinner would get the  better of our batsmen that too  in India!!!!!!! Even more pathetic has been the fact that they were getting out to him even after  getting well settled at the crease as was the case of Rohit today!!!!! What happend to our batsmen??? We used to roast spinners like Warne , Murali . Now we are seeing this.

Another important matter that seems  getting revealed is that Pant is more of a cameo player than a  grafter in one dayers.I mean  he is more suited to playing those 30 ball 42-45s rather than  a  run a ball 70  or more . He needs to be used accordingly, it seems

^^ Yeah right, you guarantee Gill will score 100 like he did in the two matches he played in NZ. Pant played 9 matches and has been around for a year.Give him a break.

Who are talented batsmen who have been left out, don't say Rahul.

No not really, he's saying that only because he's in India & we lost. Remember the siege mentality last year after the England or SA debacle, the cuck Shastri joined in buy proclaiming this is the best Indian test side he's seen in the last few decades :whack2:

I think this is best balanced side, If Pandya is fit, either BK or Shami will make way for Chahal.

Shami is a must, he can't be benched unless injured.
