Virat Kohli: "In terms of team balance, we are sorted in our head. This we feel is our most balanced side."

Recommended Posts

"Would have batted first as well. Hopefully it doesn't break down so much. Hopefully there's dew later. This is a knockout game for us. Everyone is pumped up," Virat Kohli says. "We are one of the best chasing teams in the world. We have to show that today. [Do you know your World Cup combination now?]Pretty much. The last two games didn't go our way but it's not like we haven't been doing well overall. In terms of team balance, we are sorted it our head. We aren't unbeatable. But so long as we can learn from our losses, we're okay. Chahal misses out, Jadeja comes in, Rahul misses out Shami has been added. We bat till 8 with Bhuvi in. This we feel is our most balanced side."

So Vijay Shankar will be our No. 4 going into the World Cup?

Never ever go by what Kohli or Shastri say. They say things for the sake of it.

Kihli said Rahane will be no. 4, idea was dropped after 2 series

Said Rayudu was the confirmed no. 4, Rayudu is not in the team

SHastri said Rohiy/Dhawan will get rested rotated, hardly done.

also said rahul is best option for no.4 , gave him one game at no.4 dropped

Also said yuvraj is best option

When DK was bought back he was said to be best option for no4 by kohli

kohli is a captain who always believes grass is greener on other side and ends up being Dhoni ka kutta - na ghar ka na ghat ka

People need to get real, it is not captaincy which is at fault. Most players including captain himself have just one skill. Teams like Indian team will always struggle to get that balance right.

Let me put it simple. Batting was definitely easy in initial overs and thats why both sides would have wanted to bat first. So thats only saving grace.

Wait till you get personally attacked by a few overly optimistic posters who believe Kohli-Shastri is the best combo ever happened to Indian cricket. They'd argue how Kohli won almost 2/3rd of matches under his captaincy which is on record. All selection botch-ups by aggressive Kaptaan gaya tel lene.

about kohli winning- look at how teams have regressed in world cricket apart form 1-2 and look at the number of match winners we have now.....if not winning what else cud have happened . Rohit also won team games without kohli

Actually a few think that if we somehow win all our league matches (like 2015 WC campaign) but unfortunately get beaten in semis/final of ICC tourney, then still it is a successful campaign. As if we're effing NZ to find solace in going as far as we could. Despite having the tools in our inventory to succeed in big tournaments we've underperformed consistently during key moments.

Kohli is too stubborn imo, only a miracle ala Warnie/Gilly type performance in the knockouts(if we reach) could help us otherwise it is doomed scenario.

2015 was still a young side , this isnt that young a side and the bowling quality n all rounder is an advantage now
