Ok so not the sole reason.

Takes some blame, agreed.

But saying he cost us the WC is a stretch. It would be Iike saying Sangakarra cost SL 2011 WC.(Comparison with 2014 WT20).

Sanga should get some blame, they brought in Randiv when Herath was fine and is miles ahead of him as a bowler. It is not just 2014, 2009 sending Jadeja ahead of Yuvi and Raina was completely ridiculous. Kept bowling Zaheer against Aussies or proteas don't remember in 2010 when Ashwin was still there.

What was he doing scoring 6 runs of ten balls in 2014 when Raina could just come in and attack from ball one.India sure could have used extra 15 runs which Raina would have gotten if he clicked.

Looked clueless when WI attacked in last T20 semis, it is unpardonable that he along with bowlers did not defend 192, I don't care how flat the pitch was. Dhoni ruined Virat's efforts in last two T20 cup. Virat deserved better.

Dhoni's career has litany of incidents where he played a vital role in India sliding to defeat when it had no business of losing.I am aghast with people defending his SR and trying to prove how good he was in T20s. Reality is this guy ceased to be competent T20 player long long time ago.

There are not many matches other than 2007 world cup where you can say India should have done better than their showing in that world cup as far as 50 over cricket is concerned.

But under Dhoni India has under performed in most of the T20 world cups and Dhoni is one of the prime reasons for it.

Why bother, I'll just tell you the results

Pro Dhoni - 5 votes

Anti Dhoni - Rest

Why do people have to be only "Pro Dhoni" or "Anti Dhoni"? I consider myself largely Pro Dhoni for how he changed the role of the wicket-keeper in India completely when we were struggling to find a decent keeper who could bat. But I also think he has gone past his "use by date" at least when it comes to T20s. He has to plod around for 10-15 balls before he can start striking and now, even though he still has striking power, we have better options available in players like Pant. So, I don't think Dhoni should be part of our T20 setup. So, does that make me "Anti Dhoni" now?

Why are you so worried man? Poll will be added only if @Texan wants to.

I could add it, but as you can see, we have some classic "AAP" like mentality here where if the results favor that Dhoni should no longer be part of the T20 setup, then the ones asking for his inclusion would conclude that this is a biased forum and everybody here hates Dhoni with the exception of just a few.

Team got bowled out for 79 but Dhoni(top scorer with 30) was the failure

Against Pak did not have much to do

Against Bangladesh failed to connect yes, so did most of our batsmen.

Against Aus he did what was needed. With Kohli playing like that he did not need to do anything extraordinary.

Against WI he was decent. Yes should've been better but hardly as bad as others barring Kohli.

Yes should bat at 4, agreed.

I am not saying he is legendary in this format. Just pointing out he is much better than others in the team.

It would have been ok had he even got a 20 from 14...at least we could say he was trying ...what was the point of that knock?

Sure players have sucked collectively when the team lost or player has had the odd failure when the team won but Dhoni is the only guy I remember who has lost us 2 T20I's single-handedly....that Yuvraj comeback game vs Newzealand and that infamous Rayudu game(what are the odds that this will be turned around into Rayudu's incompetence) than Dhoni's brain dead move there.

Yuvi is the only player I remember losing a T20I game that we should have won and as much as that hurt,he gets a free pass for winning us countless games in that format.

He is a total failure in T20I's.

Even in that WC semifinal 2015,it seems that he ended up "fighting" but what was the point of that innings?

May be we need to appreciate Dhoni as a good utility player who as a package was better than our previous era keeper-bats to be content...the moment he is made out to be some kind of a legend, these things will pop up...Average T20 and decent Test player and good ODI cricketer....match winner from 2004-2007...number cruncher, somewhat reliable and decent utility player from there on.

Your call. Thread will definitely get a bit more activity if you decide to add a poll.

Replied to BCCI on each of those innings.

Regarding the final, disappointing knock.

You should also consider though, that it was a tough pitch for a new batsman and most balls Dhoni faced were accurate yorkers.

Rohit, Rahane, Yuvraj ofc everyone struggled. Kohli for his first 25-30 balls was scoring run a ball. Even their batsman barring Sanga were all very slow early on.

At the spot which he comes in its not exactly a spot which can produce many match winning innings.

Came in at 4 against England recently and you saw the result.

All those batsmen you named went missing themselves in last WT20 according to your criteria.

Can somebody do better than him in that position? If the answer is yes, Dhoni should be cast aside without emotions. Its Indian cricket, not someone's baap ka jagir

He did cost us quite a few t20 in recent times. Two I can remember instantly, against WI and England.

Added a multi-question poll. Enjoy

Problem with the poll. Even if you answer "No" to the first question, it still asks you to select an option for the third one. I just selected "Something Else" coz otherwise it wouldn't let me submit the poll.

Made a minor change to poll 3.

Agreed only one option should be given.

Dhoni sucks as a T20s player -"yes"

people who cannot get themselves to vote can whine and bitch and moan and cry and protest and come up with theories.

Same thing was said when he retired from tests... the TINA option was given and it was so strong that I will admit I bought into it too but look at Saha... he has taken over and has done leagues better.

So yes bring in the new blood

Dhoni chamchas are beyond repair, if they are so delusional to believe that dhoni is the second best batsman in the team:hysterical: then not even a top brain surgeon can fix their brain

I think they took it hard aftter both CSK & Dhoni lost their respectability...
