Sehwag, Moody apply for Indian cricket team head coach position

I am probably biased but if anyone in Indian domestics deserves to be Indian coach it is Kanitakar.

 

Twice won Ranji trophy with completely unfancied Rajasthan and now has dominated the shorter formats thai season with Tamil Nadu.

 

Also has been part of Pune set up as assistant coach so would have had valuable experience under Fleming .

 

Not sure what's Doda Ganesh credentials are though.

I think he has mentioned in several interviews previously that having a young family and earlier , been 15 years on tours in international cricket, he is not looking for a full-time national coach position which would require him to be on the road for 9 months in a year. Something like IPL with 2 months of work  & travel every year suits him well.

Can't see what credentials Sehwag brings, apart from Ishant Sharma's number on speed dial. Great player does not translate into a good coach.

 

Moody is average. Pybus even worse.

 

Better to appoint someone who has achieved results in domestic cricket & has the hunger & skills to try to translate it to the international level.

India doesn't need a "coach", it needs a manager. Too many egos to deal with. Just get a fast bowling coach, and let Kohli handle the rest. I have a feeling, he will be a more effective taskmaster than any hands on coach could hope to be.

My money on Lalchand Rajput

 

On short list last year, recommended to Afghanastan by BCCI, prepared to lose job of a Associate member country heading for Test status by applying for India Head coach job again to be interviewed by same three.

 

Sounds to me like  nods and winks have been given

Out of those names, Moody seems to be the best bet. He seems to have a good tactical mind based off the IPL. If he's hired, he should be allowed to have a major say in selecting the bowling/batting coaches as well.

Why do we need Mahela is batting coach ?

His technique was hardly decent overseas.

he was a good player of spin bowling ,something that this batch of batsman need to get good at

N the biggest reason for putting mahela name is- i think he was tactically brilliant as captain something that i find kohli is not gr8 at. Mahel n zaheer would be of gr8 to help to kohli captaincy n this young n potent bowling attack 

Moody n mahela has worked toghter so have good repu as well.........Mahela looked to also have done good work with MI as well.

Sehwag as coach of India is a disaster waiting to happen. Please don't choose him for goodness sake!  

Hopefully Moody gets the job, he is a very good coach

Coach of Indian team, what an overrated position. With the current coach who many of the players seemingly don't get along with, the results have been absolutely fine. Previously under Fletcher who didn't appear to be doing much but who the players got along with, the results were up and down. 

The captain and his outlook for the team is what drives results I believe. The coach is much of a muchness.

True but Kumble is the coach and needs to be respected. If Kohli feelings are hurt and he needs a different coach then he needs to man up. We just dont know the full story.
