thats were it gets really tricky. Jad did well in SA against their obvious RHB's and is tighter than Kuldeep, but Kuldeep is a wrist spinner so he will spin more than Jad. 

 

Ashiwn is out of luck here, he is making amends and getting faster in sc while stilll looping, but will he get any turn in SA pitches..against the right handers he will be tonked.

Bumrah deserves a  chance and rightly so.But Kuldeep  needed to be there.

Pretty much expected squad. These players have been playing for few years now. This is the core team. They should have given chance to someone like Iyer,Shankar,Bumrah,Kuldeep,Samson,Pant, etc in past 1 year, but as we know our skipper and management are pussies. 

Bumrah is not going to get any game, he is way down the pecking order. Just a cover up for injuries. If kohli wanted him to play, he would have already played few matches in last year. Also, not trying any other keeper in easy games at home might come back to bite us.

Bumrah excellent selection. This also gives us the ultra aggressive option of playing 4 frontline seamers  (shami, bhuvi, ishant and bumrah) and ashwin if the captain wants to.

I tend to agree with you.  Which 2 to play out of Ash/Jaddu/Pandya is a Yuge decision.

pandya will play all tests and ODI and even t 20 in africa as he is a PACE All rounder..he is not facing any competeton.

if its 4 bowlers then He and 3 pacers will be selected and if its 5 then ashwin mostly else jaddu , pandya and 3 pacers will be selected.

great selection, I would have Picked Samson or Rishabh Pant instead of Parthiv Patel as he is now old and is not going to have a future, any way parthiv is not going to play then why not give exposure to a keeper who will play for INDIA in future.

Parthiv ...i am surprised as to how come he managed a ticket to Africa.

Bumrah should have played tests earlier but he was not played as he was not required but now with Umesh not at his best ,it made true sense to pick him in african squad. They have done a favour by selecting Umesh yadav and hopefully Umesh should bounce back.

5 batsmen-1 All Rounder-Wk-4 Seamers Vijay,Rahul,Pujara,Kohli,Rahane/Rohit/Dhawan,Pandya/Ashwin/Jadeja,Saha,Bhuvi,Shami,Umesh,Bumrah/Ishant.

 

or

6 batsmen-1 All Rounder-Wk-3 Seamers

or

5 batsmen -2 All Rounder-Wk-3 Seamers

Dhawan will be walking wicket if he opens.He can compete in middle order with Rohit.Rahane still ahead for 5th batsmen spot. Ashwin & Jadeja will be wicketless as usual in green pitches.The 20 wickets will have to come from 4 seamers.I would also be wary of over playing Bumrah & Pandya to avoid injuries.Hopefully Bumrah can create Starc effect with his yorkers.
