Well let's just say that a dud option like Karthik is more convenient than picking either Pant or Samson.

The deal has been made - No young keepers in LOIs until WC 2019.  Karthik is Dhoni's back-up.   Samson, Pant, Kishan etc can do the hard yards in A tours, Ranji and IPL.

Well done BCCI, Lankans deserved this attenuated Indian squad after their kotla shenanigans. Gives a chance to youngsters and also gives a rest to all test specialist who have undergone a heavy schedule recently.

Dhoni now looks out of place with addition of these new players (all likely to make their debuts).

I think Dhoni is double Washington's age.  

also will be interesting to see the captaincy dynamics with Rohit as captain, will Rohit be as accomodative in consulting Dhoni as Virat? Rohit in his own right is a succesful T20 captain.
