mancalledsting Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 (edited) http://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/21930091/mitchell-marsh-puts-country-ipl would be nice for our test specialists and young hopefuls to play county and learn some skills instead of Galli cricket standard IPL Edited January 2, 2018 by mancalledsting
Gollum Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 Che won't play IPL. Want Ashwin, Ishant, Shami, Vijay to follow suit and play county but think Ash and Vijay are still valuable T20 players, at least for IPL standard. Fervently wish Ishant goes and plays county, I mean if a mediocre bowler like Zak became so good after his county stint, Ishant will become the 2nd Ambrose after a county season. mancalledsting 1

New guy Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 Did you see the biased cricinfo heading? Marsh choses country over ipl. Why do Indians still follow this site King Tendulkar 1

I always thought Zak had potential

If you're not attracting lots of money or your not making a case for LOI cricket, there's not much benefit to your career of playing IPL. Vijay, Chepu, Rahane, Ishant would have all had far more fulfilling careers if they'd realised this early on rather than messing around with LOIs/IPL. Also depends on your personality, some play cricket for the challenge of being the best others prioritise money. I don't think its unrealistic/unjust to expect some of our players to show the better personality traits. Especially when you can make reasonable money from county. velu Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 english players play county cricket for their lives and they barely avoided whitewah downunder
speedheat Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 Despite being Aussie and filled with potential he lacks mental toughness hence those horrible batting and bowling averages both in tests and Odis, don't think counties will help in improving his mental toughness.
Forever Indian Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 It is about taking the right move in your career. Mitch Marsh is trying to cement a place in test team given he did well in Ashes, so playing more longer format makes sense than playing T20s league. Once he gets established I am sure he will be back playing T20 leagues like Steve Smith, Warner, etc are doing.
diga Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 Indian players skipping IPL..no chance, how else do you get into the good books of the skipper? ps: buddy system works for coaching too..Nehraji is the RCB bowling coach
The Dark Horse Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 Indian team selection doesn't work that way. You have to be in the mind space of public/popular. You can drop Pujara in tests for Rohit after his double ton in ODIs. You can drop Rahul after Dhawan has a blistering IPL. Noone will give two hoots. So, Indian players should play IPL to be in the scheme of things. Jimmy Cliff, Gollum and Sgattick10 2 1
mancalledsting Posted January 2, 2018 Author Posted January 2, 2018 Indian batsmen tend to have fantastic hand eye skills and timing but lack experience in swinging conditions...hence county will be like a finishing school for them. Doesn't matter that county system doesn't make English players great, Indian players comes from different system and all they lack is exposure to those conditions
Ankit_sharma03 Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 Why is IPL auction 2018 thread locked??? So much is happening with the retentions n all

Expecting county cricket to produce a world champion England team is like expecting every Harvard pass out to be great lawyers. County cricket won't guarantee you to become an all time great but will definitely guarantee to provide you great cricket education. The great West Indian side credited county cricket for their success and even back then England cricket team was not a fearful side. Gollum 1
King Tendulkar Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 would he even get an ipl contact ? And if did surely peanuts ? probably earn more money playing county cricket very very average player
