Kohli on a much kinder track threw it away needlessly with Pandya playing well in the other end, no comparison between the 2 knocks. Kohli scored a great 1st innings 100 but choked pretty badly here after getting things under control. Fully agree with you that Srt played against a much superior attack with a back injury even Virat played superbly but can’t compare this with Chennai knock.
Popular Post Jimmy Cliff Posted August 4, 2018 Popular Post Posted August 4, 2018 This is where one sort of misses Dhoni's captaincy. Under him, we'd have lost within 3 days by 150+ runs and there would be no KLPD. express bowling, zen, kira and 12 others 1 14

Unfortunately this is a habit since the days of Sunny, we used to get close to improbably chases then lose right at the end, or scrapped a draw. One thing is clear, even if we have 10 Virats a single Dhawan will always be enough to lose us the game. Switchblade 1

coffee_rules Posted August 4, 2018 Posted August 4, 2018 heartbreak, it hurts more when you are young. This one is sad, but because it is kohli and his ego that failed, it doesn't hurt much. Switchblade 1

Even the one where he did win it against australia in barbados included a very easy dropped catch Many ATG knocks have dropped catches, doesn't diminish the quality because luck is part and parcel of the game. Waugh was dropped by Gibbs and went on to play a legendary knock in the 1999 WC without which Aus wouldn't have qualified for the semis. Kohli was dropped twice in the 1st innings here but that 149 has ATG status nonetheless. Lara that day singlehandedly beat Aus on a deteriorating pitch, bowling line up was McGrath, Gillespie, Warne, MacGill. Irrespective of the dropped catch that knock has been surpassed only by Laxman's 281 in the last 20 years. Switchblade 1

Rightarmfast Posted August 4, 2018 Posted August 4, 2018 This is not even close to the Chennai Test. To put things in perspective, we were playing against our arch rivals Pakistan. And the quality of bowling was perhaps one of the best in the history of cricket. Sachin had a bad back and yet played on. Compared to Chennai, this was much easier. But wasn't to be! adi B, Switchblade, sandeep and 1 other 2 2

Kohli will continue to have solid support from bowlers but he may have to put up with these donkeys masquerading as batsmen for some more time. Expect more of these Adelaide, Centurion, Edgbaston type situations in the future....1 man can't win such matches unless the name is Lara. Kohli couldn't match Lara today but he played a great hand nonetheless....I am out of words to express the disgust I have for Vijay, Dhawan, Rahul, Rahane and Karthik....bloody freeloaders. Rahane, VJ and DK have scored in England, so this batting is defiantly not as bad as it has looked in this match. Tendulakar on the other hand was playing alongside some who where absolute duds outside SC, can't blame him but in Virats case you have to question how the team has developed under him? Switchblade 1

As far as I remember he has just 6 or 7 match winning centuries and he had an ATG bowling attack for most of his career, that's just pathetic

It hasn't, it's pretty clear that LO hacks are blossoming under him, in LO games on flat tracks. But our test core hasn't really developed or grown and it has a lot to do with the insecurities wrt their place in the team. If you can't assure your best (test) players that they'll be the first pick when fit, then this is the result you'll get 9 out of 10 times. Switchblade 1
prasen82 Posted August 4, 2018 Posted August 4, 2018 (edited) i looked at the adelaide match score now.. feel for kohli.. check the scorecard after kohli in second innings.. if anybody tells me rahane is one of the replacement for our famed 2000s batting quartet , a chappal will come flying in.. freaking mental midget.. has done nothing of note barring one century.. vvs and dravid .. true god's .. how blessed we were to have them. and considering the current crop of bowlers in other teams tells you that our current batsman bar kohli are so excruciatingly bad.. league of sujith somasundar Edited August 4, 2018 by prasen82 Sgattick10, adi B and sandeep 1 2

Similar to SA tour, seems like batsmen will take a test or two just to get used to longer format batting in England.

On the batting front he again had 1-2 good bats but they peaked when his career was almost done. Too many underachievers like Hooper, Adams in that line up. He played in a team resembling 90s India for almost his whole career. More of his 100s would have resulted in wins just like in case of 90s Sachin...both of them were unlucky. At least India produced other match winning batsmen like Dravid, VVS, Sehwag, Ganguly, Gambhir to ease the burden off SRT's shoulders and help him win matches. For WI Chanders was just a selfish stats boosting player, the opposite of match winner...Sarwan was too inconsistent. Lara took on the ATG Aussies and had some memorable knocks against them, a match winning 100 in WACA and that famous 213. I haven't seem much of him because of inconvenient timings but followed his series in Lanka thoroughly where he manhandled peak Murali like no one else. I have never seen a batsman so good against spin. Again match winning 100s can't be the sole criterion, you as a fan of 90s Sachin should agree with that. Aravinda de Silva was another batsman who didn't have many match winning 100s but even Sanga accepts that he is the greatest Sri Lankan batsman. Suhaan 1
