vvvslaxman Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 One interesting thing everyone noticed was how our bowlers were able to sustain their pace all day. In the past lot of matches went the other way after initial burst due to this. Dale Steyn always had this habit of coming really hard at the opposition in the third session when opposition usually hopes to make some easy runs. Hope this trend continues. Breathing fire in all the sessions. We have been doing that for a while. A reason why we make miraculous comebacks in recent days. With lot of bench strength we don't have to be worried about unexpected injuries to bowlers. Mosher and GolGappe 2
express bowling Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 (edited) Indian fast bowlers have been sustaining pace the whole day in test matches ... from mid 2015 Sri Lanka tour. So, 3 years now. This is also the time period in which India have been taking 20 wickets in almost all test matches, irrespective of conditions. coffee_rules Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 Yes, everytime the English commies said that Indian pacers were faster than English in this series, there was a hushed silence! And then they would talk about spin quartet and how Gavaskar/Solkar used to open the bowling. They are in denial. sensible-indian, philcric, Adi BB and 1 other 1 3

It is no magic that folks like Avesh Khan, Khalil Ahamed and even Deepak Chahar who were trundlers few years back are now bowling in 140s. prudent_kreeda Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 In that respect Shami was good in last 2 sessions , bit wayward but was clocking 140 + even at the fag end of the day. Really intesne stuff. Shami in that mode when fully fit is a must in the X1. Just need to be more consistent like Bhumra. Quote express bowling 1
Nikhil_cric Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 This is a good step no doubt. But I think we need to work a lot on young bowlers' actions and help them get the best out of their actions. I liked what I saw with the U19 team . The likes of nagarkoti have very efficient actions. Imagine if somehow we had gotten bumrah to run in straight without any unnecessary lateral flexion while loading and use his non bowling arm effectively ? With his hyperextension , I think he would've been a devastating bowler. It might be a bit too late for him now but.... GolGappe 1

A proper system is in place and it is bearing the results now Avesh and Khalil were never trundlers , even at U19 they were clocking 14O, but yes they have been nurtured and taken care of, refined their action are fit and can touch 150 now, Chahar was a trundlers.
